I'm aware it's a completely different genre, but there is a lot SC could learn from HD2. The combat feels smooth, the communication between team members is on point even without voice chat due to quick-comm prompts (like looking at an enemy and hit Q, it marks that target and announces it to the group. look at an area and hit Q, it marks that area and notates direction and distance.) Your character calls grenade out, calling orbital strike, or whatever you're doing fluidly without any extra input needed from the player other than taking the action, in order to alert your teammates to what's going on. Star Citizen seems to make teamwork as clunky and frustrating as possible, which not only ruins the tactical gameplay feel but also makes it so difficult to effectively work together that most people just dont seem to bother with it. The weapon interfacing is great too, you can change fire mode and fire rate on most weapons, which is something I haven't seen a lot of games do, and especially not the action shooter genre - it's generally more reserved for realistic milsims like America's Army or ArmA. Being able to set your LMG for 700, 900, or 1150 rounds per minute is a lot more versatility in combat than you'd think. I tend to set to 700 to reserve ammo when providing support fire, and swap to 1150 when you need massive damage output in a short period for tougher targets. Movement also feels much more natural in HD2, other than the frustrating lack of stamina and sometimes having issues hurdling over obstacles. By comparison though, I feel like I'm disabled in star citizen when trying to move anywhere in combat. I get hung up on terrain and objects all the time, and there are so many unnecessary movements and animations that it detracts from the fluidity of maneuvering a combat zone. Things like AI and framerate and such I'm sure will get buffed out and fixed eventually, but there are a lot of core features that are just missing.
