What the title says: The developers behind Dual Universe announced that they plan to enter Beta stage of development and to lift the NDA on august 27th. New players who want to test the beta will be able to get in with a very low and moderate monthly subscription of 6.99$. Beta is already included in all current Alpha pledge packages. https://www.dualthegame.com/en/news/2020/07/06/du-beta-arrives-august-27-at-6-99-accessible-subscription/ For new people: So what is Dual Universe in comparison to SC? Let me repost: Du is a single-shard MMO-Sandbox player-driven Open World SciFi game. DU is a voxel-based world where You can dig, mine and build everywhere You want. So it can't look as good as SC. Du is a great project, but very different from SC in many ways: - In DU the MMO already works, its not limited to 50 players like SC. So everybody is in the same world. Now. Not sometimes in the future... - DU does not have such sopisticated character customisation features like different clothing and survival elements like eating. - In DU You can build Your own spaceships, planetary buildings and spacestations with voxels and pre-made elements, like in SE or Empyrion. Your constructs even remain in the game world when You are logged out. - In DU You can add LUA-Scripts to Your constructs. - DU has hand mining, the ore is physically located in the world and spots can be mined and depleted. - DU has an atmospheric flight model and a space flight model for ships, both behave differently. Form, weight, lift and engine power all define an individual ships flight characteristics. - DU has a very complex crafting and production system. You can link production stations to each other and form factory production chains. - The market and economy is completely player-driven. - In DU You can claim territory and form player-made cities. In SC we have a world that is completely created by the developers, it has a coherent art style and graphics. In that aspect SC is a themepark, You can't really change anything. The planets look great, You can land everywhere but You can't really do anything. Only at a few devloper-made locations like caves or stations. In DU the developers provide the tools, the tech and the open-world sandbox. Everything else is created by the players. The planets look ok, You can land everywhere AND You can dig, mine or build everywhere You want and what You want
