Dual Universe is a sandbox single shard space building MMO. There is a free demo now on steam to have a first look at the game. The demo world on steam is wiped each week though! DU has been in Beta for the last two years. Now Beta ended, there is a complete wipe and a new clean start of the game with its official release on september 27th, 2022. In Dual Universe You can build Your own space stations, ships and buildings. Own land. Build factories. There is a detailled crafting system. You can add LUA scripts to Your constructs. When You build spaceships weight, lift, propulsion and the atmosphere of the planet have effects on the flight characteristics and flight behaviour. There is a much complexer flight model for atmosphere and space than in SC. The game is a complete sandbox, everything except some starter buildings and markets has to be built by the players. There is also some rudimentary ship PvP in space. DU does NOT have First Person PvP or survival aspects. There are no NPCs as well. DU has what SC doesn't have currently: Land ownership, Construction of spaceships and buildings, a player run economy and a complex crafting system. And its a working MMO with all players in the same universe. On the other hand SC has what is missing in DU: More First person gameplay loops and PvP, clothing, eating and drinking. Scripted Missions. NPCs. But if You like building games like Empyrion or Space Engineers and want it all in a MMO together with other players this could be worth a look.
