So the other day I for some reason got a desire to jump back into EVE. I left it around 2014. I had a ton of passive income systems like planet interaction, maxed skills in many things, and a ton of ships. Anyways, after jumping in I seen this Omega crap. A few things I noticed with that is Many of my bigger ships I couldn't use at all without paying for the Omega package I couldn't skill up anymore due to already being at a such high skill level already Parts I couldn't use anymore like given drones, implants, etc. They basically gutted the game. What makes it worse is because in the past I was easily able to use isk (in-game money to pay for my subscription), I went ahead and pay for a month to see if it is still possible. Looking at the math, it looks like this isn't a thing largely anymore. Not unless if you look at the extremes. And if you want to work for it, like you use to be able to. Based on my calculations your at about 28.4 days if you were to work on this 8 hours a day. Now there is some methods which I haven't tried like gas mining, but at this point. It is obvious CCP has pulled back hard on you being able to afford the game with in game money alone. And the PVP is honestly even more lackluster now than it ever was. It appears there is far more automated alt accounts, or less unique players. And null seems somehow safer than what it was prior. My point is, when I see people comparing Eve to SC, I'm not wondering when was the last time they even played it.
