Hi everyone, Every day I read on these forums about how the game industry only releases garbage, gaming is dead, the 90s were the golden era, many people don’t play anything except SC, Cyberpunk, 1 billion RDR2 maps would fit in Stanton, etc. I’m not sure where this narrative comes from as it does NOT reflect my experience in the slightest. Been playing games since the Apple II and have never stopped. Have always owned a gaming PC, all the consoles, etc. In the past five years I’ve enjoyed hundreds and hundreds of games. My gaming backlog still probably has 100+ titles in it that I haven’t even started yet. The variety of games is massive and grows every year. Some of the AAA games I’ve enjoyed just over the past few years (most of my fav games are not on this list as their budget was smaller, like Obra Dinn). Breath of the Wild Persona 5 Horizon Zero Dawn Resident Evil 7 Prey Red Dead 2 Spider-man God of War Jedi Fallen Order Divinity Original Sin 2 Disco Elysium Fire Emblem: 3 Houses Death Stranding Sekiro Control Doom Eternal Ghost of Tsushima Last of Us 2 Total War: Warhammer 2 XCom 2 Half Life: Alyx It Takes Two Guardians of the Galaxy Deathloop Returnal My personal take - the people who are most emotionally invested in SC on these forums do not play other games. Many of them haven’t played another game in 10+ years. They have no idea how good or bad games are these days as they don’t really play games, they only play SC and dream about what the game should be in their head. Not sure what purpose this was meant to serve but for all those saying gaming has died, I think you’re full of poop. PS> Pretty sure all the games I listed had a publisher as well, so the idea that you can’t have a publisher AND a good game is just poop.
