I appreciate yesterday's video as well as today's letter, but it needs to be stated that kicking the can further down the road is a problematic decision. Yes, GTA6 will dominate the headlines. As will war, elections, natural disasters and celebrity drama. And did you guys see the Gamescom's trailers? A few titles are looking absolutely epic, and some breakout hits will surely steal the spotlight as well! The fact is, there will always be something to tangle with, gaming or otherwise. Does that allow or justify progressively delaying SQ42? The truth is, if a game is truly that good and as special as the letter says it is, it will stand out all on its own. In a time when Resident Evil released we got a complete unknown in Crimson Desert and that game still holds discussion to this day. Back in the day I argued that holding back the F8C as an SQ42 reward was a bad move because SQ42 should stand on its own. The latter part of my argument still stands, SQ42 needs to be good enough that nothing will keep it down (and please buff the F8C already... such a wasted ship).
