Many Gamers only see the "perfect game" in their heads if they have one described to them, or see a vague trailer. How will this perfect game work? They have no idea. They just know they want it. So, I offer the following statement: "I'm going to make a fast paced FPS with realistic shotguns that are balanced with the other guns." The Gamer: "Wow that sounds awesome! I'm sick of games with shotguns that only have a range of 3 feet!" And then realism dictates that "Shotguns one-shot kill under 20 meters." 20 meters or less is a very common engagement range in many video games, (because you don't have most real life concerns that determine what a viable and versatile weapon is, yknow, like...fear of death so you want to maintain range for safety). The gamer goes: "HEY! This isn't balanced at all!" "Is the "Realistic Shotgun that is Balanced" possible in FPS game design?"
