I'll eventually get an existential crisis on the 500th hour of playing SF, especially when I start using the console to cheat for the first time to fix a mod, after having finished the game (as in, exploring all 10 archetypes that the 1000 planets are made from) On Star Citizen, the presence of others legitimize all that one does. The server authoritative environment makes everything feel real, because one cannot break causality with cheats as easily as in SF. It shouldn't be as easy to cheat in a server authoritative environment during and after beta (i hope). But eventually one get's defeated on SC, and have that be monetized on youtube by the assailant and taunted and that's when it's time to get some peace again on SF. When you simply can't dedicate the time required to play SC, where you're undisturbed, you play SF. When you're too tired to deal with excitement, you craft stuff, and customize the ship on SF. If your org has something exciting planned for the weekend, you play SC. It'll always be glorious, and you'll never have that sort of experience on SF. It's just not the same. When you want to play a game with the family, and share a passion with someone, you take them along on SC. If you want to be part of an authentic, living breathing universe that has a diegetic causality within the universe, you play SC. If you don't like something, or wanna spice it up a bit or feel like an authentic woman with a menstrual cycle and the ability to have kids without being judged, mod SF. You're not gonna run out of content for a very long time with mods, and it's replay value is practically infinite. Content produced actually keeps up with the rate of consumption when it comes to mods. On SC, everyone shares the pain, and shared pain is half the pain. Everyone's godda take that fucking tram for the 50000th time one way or the other, can't mod that out. It's what makes that tram so real. Reminds us of real life. We share stories. Can relate with one another. SF experience can be somewhat compartmentalized when talking with other people, cuz nobody really cares that your base is a perfect dodecahedron, with 3 spires, whereas in SC, fellow citizens will be like "Dude. So glad I found your base. I was running on fumes! Now, can I get a refund? I'd hate to bomb this place." On the other hand, the world in SF is 100% yours. You own all of it. Just you. And you're completely undisturbed. Pure zen. You don't have to pay protection money to 10 orgs to keep your base. Wish your ship can be black and red across all permutations and called "Enterprise" ? Play SF. Want to feel special by flying escort duty with an F8C, with a Banu cube sitting on the dashboard? Play SC. Want to experiment with various causalities and what-ifs? Play SF. Want to commit to a single causality, as your unique story and life? Play SC. Don't wanna FOMO? Play SF. Want to experience the rush of buying an entire apartment block, with rockets on it? Play SC. SC taking too long? Play SF. SF getting stale? Check out SC. You see... both games perfectly complement each other, and that rocks. It's so beautiful that we can have the best of both worlds.
