This is one guys review for Arc Raiders. Ive been playing a fair amount of this (almost 90 hours since launch), which is time I used to put into SC, and time I thought I would have spent playing BF6, but its not really about that. What I think is interesting here is not the game itself, but the things this guy says about how its put together. How the game gets a good balance between the casual and the punishing, but that without the punishing part it wouldn't be the same game. How it has things in place to help ensure that no matter how hard you lose, you always get at least something for your time. How the way the game plays in solo's, duo's and trio's is quite different without the developers having to put hard rules in place to force player behaviour. I think its worth a watch for any devs at CIG, because I pretty much agree with everything this guy says about the way this game has been built. There are so many things this game is getting right, many of which I have said for a long time should feature in SC, before I even heard of this game, and seeing them implemented and how well received they have been only serves to validate my view further, and its not about how complex or simple a game is, its about looking at what you have and making sure you nail your core mechanics. There are so many glaring flaws in CIGs game, and while yes its unfinished, simple things like the inability to crawl when you are downed (which isnt even an AR thing) are borderline inexcusable. There is the whole devs vs managers thing too, but I dont want to get into that, this is really aimed at whoevers in charge I guess, and Im just using the label of dev.
