https://inovaestudios.com/Battlescape https://store.steampowered.com/app/1079620/Infinity_Battlescape/ So many years ago, say in 2002, as a young adult I stumbled upon the be all end all game: Infinity! Space MMO Procedural open universe blah blah....everything. But of course it became vaporware, I saw it from early and stopped following it around 2004. The game engine was beautiful and even had seamless transitions, truly remarkable looking for the time, I believe way ahead of its time. There was even a multiplayer battle demo which was really fun! I think at the height of it it had hundreds of thousands of followers. Anyway, even though their MMO never panned out and that was obvious to people like me, they seemed to have over time kept working on their engine and forgetting about the game until about 2015 when they did a successful kickstarter for a much more scaled down game to one full sized solar system. Apparently, I've been absent for it all and after two years of developing with feedback from Kickstarter backers in pre-alpha to alpha and then to beta, it is going to steam early access on 27th September! And it looks amazing of course and from what I've seen of the discussions in their forums, thousands of players are enjoying large several hundred+ games of a kind of capture the flag game on steroids, similar to planetside? I think that is how they describe it as PS in space. So with many strategic locations to flight for in the solar system, various combat roles like scouting, and stealth and a balance capital ship/fighter/bomber playfield, I can't wait to try it! Just wondered if anyone else ever followed this from 2002 to vaporware to its resurgence? And if you plan to try it. A planetside 2 in space with these graphics/gameplay and physics seems like it could provide a lot of fun while we wait for the PU/S42! Like a space multiplayer moba on steroids :slightly_smiling_face: Oh and I think the idea is if this game funds them enough, they want to transition to their MMO development.
