I'm pretty sure most of you have heard about the recent Rockstar hack and the leaking of pre-release data on GTA6. This got me thinking. What would CIG do if something similar happened with SQ42 or SC? In particular I'm concerned about Rockstar's loss of the GTAV source code. I imagine if someone got their thieving hands on SQ42's source code the project would be finished. I also imagine that CIG takes security very seriously, but there's got to be some weak points considering the number of teams and studios involved in developing SC, particularly given home working and the likes over the past few years. There are certainly malicious actors out there who would love to see CIG fail, but also, it's a $500+ million dollar project, so there'd be a major incentive to try and hold the game data for ransom. One of the reasons allegedly cited by the hackers of GTA6 was that Rockstar didn't provide enough info on the project and it was taking too long, but they also claimed some Robinhood BS about Rockstar's monetization of GTAO. What do people think, is CIG a target for this kind of stuff? Are CIG's security measures robust enough to protect their (and our) investment? Would a hack of this nature be bad enough to sink the project or do you think CIG could still pull it off if the worst happened?
