A very nifty little game. Still mostly in BETA with glitches and crashes but it is very enjoyable. Its a 2D game that is more like a submarine in space type of gameplay. It has trading, combat, stealth and in a certain fashion, exploration. Available on STEAM and GoG. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WfVcJfq_0k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0XpAfYGQHU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qo7Vq4mqMTQ A quick guide-through to this little Gem: This game is played entirely through instrumentation. There is no cockpit or glass to see outside where you're going, no 3rd person view. You're inside the bridge staring at screens placed in different stations. Stations are composed of different touchscreen monitors, indicator gauges and switches/levers you can operate. You use the mouse wheel to zoom in/out of each screen to interact with it. Ship Stations: 'Bridge' Station: Contains SENSORS, WEAPONS, NAVIGATION, HELM and Ship to Ship communication monitors. Has reactor on/off switch and EMCON button (a 'run silent' switch). Has indicator gauge of your ship's emission output, hull damage status and your power consumption/generation levels. From this screen you do everything from flying the ship, set targets/fire, view sensor data and filters, change thruster output and use navigation system options. You can also turn on or off your IFF signal. You can fly your ship manually or use an autopilot/plot course system. Engineering Station: Displays all ship systems as installed on the ship (and where they are installed..you can choose where in the hull they get installed within limitations). SENSORS, REACTOR, MAIN ENGINE, RCS, COMMS, WEAPONS, COUNTERMEASURES, BATTERIES and NAVIGATION. Choosing one allows you to enter a next screen that displays the internals of that system. Each system is composed of multiple modules, all arranged in different formats. There is a primary module that has other module daisy-chained to it. For a system to function, the daisy chain of modules must go from one edge of the module (left or right) and connect to the primary module. Aka the REACTOR module has a REACTOR CORE primary module and a bunch of daisy chained module slots leading to it from different directions. To make the module function you must insert modules in those slots to connect the reactor core to one edge of the screen. Each module besides the primary module has certain functions... some just conduct power, others can buffer/protect the system from a power overload, others reduce emissions, other increase the strength of the module, etc. You can customize your ship systems in an insane number of ways with this system. To repair a system, one must replace damaged modules with undamaged ones from your ship's stores. Damaged modules will lower the functionality of the system overall; destroyed modules break the daisy chain. There are different brands of systems and modules. Each brand has their own pros and cons. For example, system manufacturers may provide 'system board' designs (aka the daisy chain format) that allow you to make a very redundant and reliable system that takes a lot to bring down...or they design their systems to be simple and easy to knock out but they got lots of raw power. Module manufacturers provide different levels of power efficiency, signature reduction, module strength, EM resistance, etc, etc. COMMS station: This is essentially a 'connect to space internet, download e-mails sent to me by NPCs'. Uses a retro DOS type command sets like DIR , MAIL, VIEW ,etc. Ship Airlock: So you can go in and out of your ship. Immersive open inner/outer airlock with bells and whistles. POWER GRID station: From here you can see the various ship systems and how they drain power and produce emissions. From here you can either turn them on or off, assigne them to lower or higher priority for power allocation and to select them as a module that gets turned off when you go into EMCON mode. Gameplay is highly tactical. It is all based on sensors and stealth. Trading is no different than PRIVATEER was except sometimes goods are not available nearby and you have to fly long distances to get them.
