I just dumped my Windows OS for good. I may not be able to play SC now, but I am playing my favorite game Elite Dangerous Horizons on Linux (Ubuntu 18.10) https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2018-08-22-steam-play-update-makes-windows-games-playable-on-linux All you need to do to make this work, is to install Steam on your favorite distro of Linux, and then join the Steam Beta. This will give you a version of Steam that will let Windows Games play WITHOUT WINE. Then go to Steam Play within Steam's Settings, and check the appropriate boxes. Then install your games. It works for Elite and every one I have tried. Unfortunately, Star Citizen is not a Steam ported game, so I don't mind right now. SC is still in "alpha" and eventually when it is released, it will probably show up in Steam, if it does not get ported directly first. Enjoy.
