Hi Homeworld fans! I thought I'd create a thread that discusses and showcases this epic game series. If you enjoyed these games then please feel free to share your thoughts. However, if you hated them then clear off, this thread isn't for you as it's a "love in" thread not a critique! Played as a sort of 3 dimensional real time strategy game, from tiny little fighter craft to massive star ships, laser and counter laser each other in a beautiful ballet of death. Watching ships being blown to smithereens has never been so enjoyable, especially when an enemy fleet falls for a cunning ruse that draws them into an ambush you have carefully prepared. So, to start us off, what was so good about this first game in this series? Well, for me, epic doesn't even come close to describe the voyages of the much put upon Hiirgarans, a race who launched themselves, naively, from what they think is their homeworld of Kharak. Hounded across the galaxy this proud and hardy people have to turn into outright pirates to survive, uncover mysteries of their origins, meet other friendly and not so friendly races out there and, eventually, return to their almost mythic but actually real homeworld of Hiigara. Here is a movie which covers the story of Homeworld 1. Now, and this is important, if you have never played this game series and have a desire to try it for yourself, then great! Your going to experience one of the best told stories ever in gaming but watching this and the other videos in these posts will spoil it for you so best give them a miss. They are there mainly for folk who have played them all and just want to re-watch those magic moments again.
