Look at the detail BEHIND the mfd. My favorite part is how starfield appears to avoid any augmented reality laziness. Even the holographic stuff on the gun has an LCD appearance. The consoles all have various colors, and the buttons on the hardware have readable labels. The helmet of the character looks like a space helmet. This is also what really like. How not every suit is a superhero suit. And the cockpit layout is just wonderful. It has bright colors, detailed mfds that are not just rectangles with all the same texture applied. Now I would like to contrast this to SC stuff: #1 - the pisces has a nice cockpit dashboard. However notice the entire geometry is made of the same plastic material. A flat texture. #3 - Cellin. Notice the unhealthy blue/cyan tint? In the starfield trailer, the supposedly airless moon has a realistic color for the ground. No overtinted colors. #4 - Lyria, again "mood-enhancing" coloration applied to the rocks, the ground and even the lighting. This colorization stuff is ruinous for the visual realism of moons. #5 - Unfortunately the origin 100i is a frenzy of shortcuts when looking at its cockpit experience. All floating UI screens. #6 - starfield picture from above. Notice how the colors look more real? The ground is dark gray with some hints of brown. Contrast this with the lyria and cellin screenshots. #7 - Starrunner cockpit. Notice how the MFDs are facing too far away from the pilot? In all the years of this ship being developed, how has that not been raised as an issue? I think these are some areas in which SC could improve. Also some people will make comments about how Starfield was 25 years in the making. It was not. It might have been some ideas developers discussed in a room while making the other games. Real development of starfield started likely in 2014. When Fallout 4 was nearly completed. However the point of this topic is to point out some things I feel are weak points in SC. And some of these weak points are easily fixed if the game gets away from the influence of overwatch and other "augmented reality" hud games. Because they are a bad influence on game developers.
