The stage is set. Starfield gameplay revealed and it strongly reminds me that I don't have to have just one favorite game. I didn't play latest Bethesda games because I didn't like Fallout franchise, but new IP, set in space? With 100 star systems, outpost building, ship modularity, crew, rich storyline and most importantly - an RPG? I say Star Citizen just got a strong rival in my book of favorite modern games, which contained only one game for the last 5 years - Star Citizen. With how the modern world works I forgot that humans are actually allowed to love many games, all titles of a previous decade didn't make me interested enough and Cyberpunk (which I've been neutral about before its release) ended up being just a single walkthrough game, which surprises me beyond measure even now, since it's a well crafted game. I think it just didn't fill the necessary check marks for me. So, what I want is to message CIG with words that now when I have Starfield in my book of heavily anticipated games, a second favorite game first time in a decade, I feel that Stanton is not enough anymore. Blame Starfield, not me! I honestly thought "fine, let's wait for SF release" and thought to myself this is gonna be an easy ride, but suddenly in a time period of just two days I feel that Stanton is really behind me. I don't feel like looking for secrets, looting boxes or blindly flying around for no reason (doesn't mean I won't in the near future). Compared to the unknowns of Starfield - Stanton is not a secret anymore. Simple as that. I think SC needs more content. Not a newest thought in the world, but certainly - one having a new perspective now when I have another game to aim playing, potentially - the same amount of hours if not more. The world I came from initially was never a world of MMOs, I always preferred single player games and consider my years of playing Counter Strike - wasted time of my life, but those were such times - there wasn't many alternatives then for a dude without any English comprehension. Yes, I played WoW a couple of years, but it failed to attract me longer turning to undesireable sides of gameplay. As I mentioned several times on these forums - I backed SC while being in love, with my mind full of hormones and love stuff, so it was never a thoughtful action from my side. It was a matter of luck multiplied by love to fancy graphics. Yes, things slowly changed since 2013 and by 2017 I completely changed my life views, so backing SC turned out to be a great idea and I'm still sticking to this notion. Now, let's spread heresy a little bit, shall we? :slightly_smiling_face: I will be fine if multicrew gameplay won't ever reach its full potential. I will be fine with poor space combat or FPS combat as it is now. Just fill this world with stories, using all available levels, not just missions and static art. Make NPCs talk and discuss stuff with each other. Make dancers dance. Make singers. Make NPC ships land and fly somewhere. Give us new star system. Animals. Advanced character creator promised years ago. Toys, figurines, bobbleheads, apartments, artifacts, waterfalls, more caves variety... I can endlessly continue as you may suspect already... Point is - make me break my rules and want to play combat in this game, but mind you - you can't achieve that by creating sophisticated gameplay systems and honestly, I don't think you will ever accomplish anything simply by following systems approach. I believe you need stories more than anything. This game has to feel alive. Without that there won't be alternative universe to escape to in its true sense and I personally feel that I'm gonna betray SC pretty fast if Starfield has at least a Mass Effect 1 or Skyrim level of storytelling. Star Citizen simply doesn't have enough variety among locations, despite having four landing zones - they all contain same stuff in terms of STORIES. There are no street beggars, whores, kids, aliens, dancers, singers, criminals, customers, etc... LZs are basically empty. Bartender, coffee maker and some shop keepers just don't cut it and NPCs are only half-real, since they don't do anything special - despite having many objects to interact with they aren't doing anything that makes them unique characters with background stories!... Now, if SC was subscription based this wouldn't be even a question - I would already stop playing and cancel the sub. But since it isn't, I have no real power within to leave SC for long time as the game is just too beautiful and inspiring even as it is to waste my time on anything else right now. So, my wishes aside - the real question I feel I should ask is this - which comes first - 4.0 or Starfield release? Because this is certainly looking like a battle for me now - battle for time and hearts of many players around the globe, battle for joy, battle for the spring 2023. I think would be pretty nice surprise if SF comes first and after playing it, with tired shaking hands and red eyes I would find out that 4.0 is out. You and Bethesda have the chance to make me forget how to sleep once again. You can certainly make me feel like a child again. So, sorry to all true SC fans, but I have to thank Bethesda along with CIG for this thread. I think it's fantastic that now I have two games to aim playing. Please, continue doing what you were doing. Thanks for reading.
