The game currently has 2+ million subscribers and a lot of crowd sourced money for development. It's clear there is a lot of interest in the genre based on the numbers alone. You think other big named game developers such as Blizzard, Bethesda, Bioware, EA etc... have taken more than just a curious interest? Of course they've noticed the money CIG has generated with this business model, but do you think the big boys have already started small proof of concept programs going internally, just waiting to see if CIG can reach a threshold milestone that makes the well known game developers say to themselves that people yearn for this, the ability to make it happen is there, there is profit to be had, now lets throw our large resources behind a space sim open universe sandbox game and get in on that action before we're late to the party?
