The more I've thought about this, the less I see this as a given. Certainly, GTA6 is going to get tons of attention, but hear me out for a moment. Let's explore what will actually happen, if Squadron 42 launches in late October, November, or December, and GTA6 meets it's current November release target. I'll simply say this first. I don't think this is ideal for Rockstar, either. Like it or not, BOTH games will get attention. Both are expected to be epic games, both have been in development for over a decade, and both are highly anticipated. However, look at the Star Power that CiG will roll out to do interviews when SQ42 releases. This is NOT something Rockstar can compete with. This cannot be overstated. Rockstar does not have any big name actors in the initial release of GTA6. Maybe a later DLC would include one, but I haven't heard a single big name, yet. When Gary Oldman, Mark Hamill, Gillian Anderson, Henry Cavill, Liam Cunningham, Sophie Wu, Rhona Mitra, John Rhys-Davies, Gemma Whelan, Mark Strong, Ben Mendelsohn, Jack Huston, and OSCAR Winner Andy Serkis are out there doing interviews, that's going to soak up all the oxygen in the room. Now, think about what happens if SQ42 is actually polished, but GTA6 suffers some sort of hiccup at release. Suddenly, the good press will all shift to SQ42, and GTA6 will suffer even more bad press. The SQ42 vs GTA6 story-line will grow legs, and it will be stated how many thought SQ42 would suffer by releasing near GTA6, but it's GTA6 that's suffering. So the point is simply this. Both releasing at about the same time, is NOT ideal for Rockstar either. Rockstar would also be advised to be concerned about this. Maybe Rockstar should also think about adjusting their release date. Maybe, if SQ42 has to release at the end of 2026, maybe Rockstar should be looking at 2nd quarter 2027 at the earliest? I started thinking about this, when I saw a video by a guy who was showing how bad the dialogue and voice acting is, in the small part of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, that he was invited to play just recently. It highlighted to me just how amazing it is in Squadron 42. Squadron 42 might have the best dialogue and voice acting I've ever seen in a game. I don't know, what do you think?
