Day 1, Part II Ok, the noodles at Baijini Point were better than folks had told me. I spent a few hours there on station getting some matters in order. I contacted my friend Frank that works over at Levski and he let me know that the repairs on my Prospector would be finished by the next day. That was great news, well except for the fact that my credits had been reduced by quite a bit. I started searching the tradenet to see what jobs were open and found a couple that sounded fair enough. Luckily there was a package going from this station over to the R&R at HUR-L4. I called over to the docks to have my Aurora fueled up and ready for me and made some last-minute arrangements before making the journey. As I made my way over to the docks, I noticed a new message was available on my HUD. I gestured for it to display and was met by a recording from someone named Ruto. Something about that name is familiar but I was not quite sure where from. So, this Ruto fella has a job for me. He says he has heard I am efficient and don’t ask a lot of questions, this is true enough, so I continue through the message. Seems some associate of his has left a few crates that need spacing off world from Cellin. Seems standard with the typical request to not open the crates. This is common practice and to be honest, I am never really too concerned with what I am hauling so much as what it pays. He provides the coords where I can find the crates, which is remote. The pay is not great but seems a simple enough gig. Also, there is promise of more work in the future. I hope this guy plans on increasing the creds though. I grabbed the crate from the nearby Covelux vendor and made my way to pad 2 to load up my Aurora. After some adjustments, it was time to go. I plotted the route over to HUR-L4 and made that delivery, then on to Cellin to fulfill this order from my new friend. I found the place easily enough and no one was anywhere near, so I was able to collect the crates from out back the main building. Once loaded, I plotted a route off rock to dispose of my new freight. Just as I lift off, my AI starts alerting me to two nearby vessels approaching. Seems they are coming fast and with a purpose. So, I skip the normal routing and just point my nose upward at a steep incline, throwing the throttle to near full. Gear’s up and I am making pretty good progress. I started thinking things through. Questions start rising in my head. Ok, what has this guy Ruto got me carrying? Who are these folks rushing towards the building I just left? Maybe just friends of his? I don’t think so though. Seems a bit off for me and a bit too close. So, a nice bit of plotting, I sort myself out and aim for an Outer Marker. Then the next, then on to Yela. I don’t see a trace of anyone following but just to make sure I bury myself into the asteroid belt and find a decent sized rock that should mask my little ship well. All systems off, I wait it out for a good half hour. Nothing, no movement, no broadcasts, nothing. I decide now is a good time to get rid of my cargo before moving on. I make my way behind the seat and spin the side door open. I grab the first crate and heave it right out the side to float off lazily. Now here comes the punch to the stomach. Just as I go to lift the second, I notice what really looks like a streak of blood coming from the lid joint. Well shit. I look about and make sure nothing has dripped on the interior of my ship. No signs of any spills so I quickly and careful eject this one out towards the rock as well. Ok well this is not what I expected to have to deal with. Now I need to find out more about this Ruto guy and what the hell he is getting me involved in. I will update this once I know a bit more.
