Hello fellow Star Citizen gamers, As a fellow star gazing adventurer like you, I like immersion, action and challenges in my games. I also like 'writing' short stories in RL ( mostly day dreaming the story) but never actually put it down on paper until yesterday night late, like very late. I let the Star Citizen universe and lore guide me in writing this story about my main character within the game. Its just the beginning, and I hope it something worth reading. I am happy about the first installment, finally putting day dream stories down on paper, feels good man! For now, I hope you can enjoy some creative writing although I am amateur as amateur can be and non native English. Critique is welcome, but also praise, writing tips and tricks. Let me know what you think. Thanks! Chapter One: Becoming the Captain Sol System – September year 2949 ‘Commander can you get to my office’ said the message on the mobiglass of Commander Ithilenia. ‘Oh...there we go again’ said Ithilenia. ‘Huh…?’ replied Romarck. ‘Oh I need to go to the Captain, probably he has something to bitch about and I need to receive it’. Ithilenia stood up from her chair, put aside a flyer of the Anvil Carrack on which she doodled a custom skin and a big X on. She walked out the Crew’s Restroom, stared by Rhomarck, a fine Lieutenant Commander, Lena, the joyful Lieutenant and Levi, the rookie but promising Midshipman. One of the most fun and dedicated crew she worked with. The Captain however is not so fun. He is a real ‘orders are orders’ and ‘you follow and do exactly what I tell you to do’ kind of Captain. While Ithilenia is lets say more organic in following an order or completing a mission. Those two characters collided many times and even sometimes in public but somehow the result is having an outstanding track record together. Both have some mutual respect for each other. Ithilenia respects that the Captain is willing to do what it takes to complete a mission what ever the cost, even if it’s cost him personally ‘everything’, like he is boosting about it sometimes. Which why ‘they’ say he is married to the Army, although being a Naval Captain since a decade after serving many at the Army. He got a divorce while on a mission of his choosing, his wife felt second place and could not cope with the fact he chooses his rank above her companionship. The Captain respects the fact that Ithilenia has such “free and creative’ mindset. It seems like its not bound to strict orders, while following the direction of the order itself. She accomplished multiple outstanding results in times where some of us would withdraw and regroup. But never he will say this out loud and certainly not to her. He still remembers that he caught her while under influence of some vice-drugs, dancing in that bar, while some men eyeing her and following every move she made. ‘Good luck Commander’ Rhomarck said when she closed the door. She could hear the sarcasm in his voice with a twist of joy at her expense. She will get back at him with playing cards, he still owes her at least 1000 UAC’s, she thought. ‘A congratulations is in order I believe Commander Ithilenia or should I say Captain Ithilenia’. That sentence took her by surprise, she was not expecting that ever coming out of her own Captain. ‘Captain?’ she asked, while shivers rolled down her spine but trying keeping composure. In front of her behind the desk, that was setup and items put on there with such precision border lining by someone with a slight nod with some mental issue, sat her Captain with two letters in front of him. One was opened the other one sealed and stamped “Strictly Confidential’ and ‘Only to be opened by the addressee through bio metric identification’.‘This was brought to me to pass on to you, apparently I am promoted to your personal mailman’ His cynical tone at the end of the sentence made her aware again why she applied to the Mission and trying to get promoted. The unopened letter, within in a closed and sealed see-through box with a bio metric scanner placed on top, had the logo and name of Anvil Aerospace on it. ‘You are expected at Sol Naval HQ within 10 days, report to the office of Rear Admiral Kirea for initiating the ceremony, you can understand I can’t attend and leave my post for some celebration that does not add value to my mission. Take the box, open it in your bunk and follow the orders laid out. I suggest that you reflect on your past and decisions you made under my command to make a better future for the UEE, your future crew and let’s not forget yourself. Being a Captain is not a position to be free flinging it. You hold the end responsibility of your crew, your ship and mission outcome. Remember that. That’s all, your dismissed’.‘Yes sir!’, Ithilenia took both the opened letter and box, which was way heavier than it looked, turned around to walk out. ‘Commander Ithilenia!, don’t you forget something?’ Because of all the emotions, questions and anxiety what’s written in that Anvil letter she forgot to salute. ‘Oh sorry sir, forgive me sir’ Ithilenia saluted her Captain trying to give her best composure ‘Goodbye Captain Piori, it has been…interesting under your command.’ The Captain saluted and sat down. Ithilenia closed the door with the box firmly against her torso, she stepped out of the office building back to the crew quarters as soon as possible. ‘So…? Whats up Ithi?’ Rhomarck raising his one eyebrow asking himself what kind of shit will roll down on his lap now. ‘Guys…you are looking at Captain Ithilenia, within ten days I am promoted at Sol Naval HQ to Captain! I get my own ship and crew! Missions and orders which I can fulfill without someone breathing down my neck all the time!’ All of them stood up and cheered and clapped; congratulating Ithilenia. Rhomarck ordered the crew to salute the new upcoming Captain. “Captain Ithilenia, we hereby salute you and if you ever need a crew to your ship, we stand at the ready’ and all of them, Rhomarck, Lena, and Levi, saluted her, all of them with a smile on their face but their eyes where saying that they were unsure about the future. ‘Will she leave us alone with Captain Piori?, Will Rhomarck take her place under Piori? What will she do, what mission does she have?’‘ Guys! Relax! I am still your Commander for now, but I sure do like it if you can come with me to my ceremony, how small it might be. Oh! And this box with this letter in it?’, she noticed that Lena was eyeing the box in her hand. ‘Open it Commander Ithilenia” said Levi with his unusual but so typical hyper active composure. Ithilenia inserted her bio metric token, placed her hand on top of the box. A small needle stung her finger tip and a drop of blood flowed in a minuscule container. ‘FUCK! Like what the hell!’ Ithilenia pulled back her right hand an put her finger in her mouth to sooth the pain. ‘Holy mother!, that is grade A, Level 5 of 7 security protocol; this ain’t a regular letter Commander’ Lena explained. Lena was the tech-head of the crew and really into security and yeah how to break or hack it. She promised she would never hack her crew’s mobiglass or at least she was never caught doing it. Everyone just stared in awe at the box that opened with a small hiss, revealing the letter. An actual letter on printed paper is by itself a rare occurrence nowadays. A letter on printed paper inside a grade A, level 5 bio metric security box is probably once in a lifetime occurrence for someone ranked lower than Rear Admiral. With a slight trembling in her hand Ithilenia took the letter out of the box, her heart beating so fast like she was sparring against Rhomarck in hand to hand combat practice. She knew what was in that letter, or at least what topic it contained, but she did not know the outcome. ‘Read it! Read it out loud!', said Levi with too much excitement, while Lena only had eyes for the box. “May I?” Lena asked pointing at the box. Ithilenia did not hear Lena’s questions, she sat down and start reading the letter out loud to the crew:
