The slight hiss of static can be heard as a channel switches from listening to broadcasting. Then, Drifter speaks. This is Drifter, and you're tuned into DrifterFM. A few clicks are heard and the connection comes through even clearer. I'm currently broadcasting from the surface of Microtech. It's quite a sight out here... Now that I'm away from Hurston and their security, I've got a bit more free reign... So without further ado... Let's get onto some news that I can finally cover. Drifter sighs, and then speaks with a more professional voice. It's long been known where people get sent when they get arrested in Stanton. A "rehab facility", they call it. But I've seen it myself a few times, and I'll tell ya, it doesn't work the way they are doing it. No guards to keep the inmates from fighting, no blocking off the escape routes... Sure, the surface of Aberdeen might make for a good deterrent. After all, those prison suits... They ain't made for that kind of weather. That doesn't stop people. Not at all. There's been stories of people running the tunnels in five minutes. It's a game to them. And then you have the mines. No guards, no safety... There's a chance you get killed out there. Drifter lets out another sigh. Not that Hurston Security would be an improvement. They don't do "non-lethal" arrests. You resist, you might go there in a body bag. Almost happened to me. Some might ask the same thing I do. Why is the security force so brutal? Is it discipline? A tactic to instill fear? Both? Hell if I know at this point. All I know now... ...is that they ain't gonna stop. They'll stay brutal unless something changes. The truth is out there, though. Waiting to be found, somewhere. But for now, that's all the news I got. A mechanical creaking sound is heard, and Drifter goes back to their usual voice. As for me, I've been training myself in CQC. Fists and knives. Two weapons, old as time. I got a pistol as well, but that's a pain to use without a suit. No ammo count means I gotta keep track of my bullets. And I can't switch mags as quickly... Anyway, The place is nice. Some parts may be cold, but it's better than Hurston. A few clicks are heard, then Drifter speaks again. Well, that's all I got for today. I'll be switching to broadcast to receive now, so feel free to ask me things. Until then, keep heading onwards to a new dawn. Drifter out. The broadcast crackles before abruptly cutting to a quiet hum. The transmission switched back to listening.
