https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/vasgs7/fastforecast_12_june_ptsd_awareness_month/ Good afternoon citizens, your Fastforecast is online and broadcasting today with a bit of a change of pace. We are changing our normal reporting for something near and dear to our heart, PTSD awareness month. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is most well known for combat troops and has gone by many names in the past. "Soldier's fatigue", "thousand-yard stare', "shell shock', and even after seeing railway accidents in the 20th century, as "railway spine" are some of the names it's been known as historically. It's a disorder that hollows you out, draws you inward and makes you mistrust you who are and your relationships. You second guess everything around you and it's exhausting. You're constantly running on overdrive until you have nothing left to give. It's completely unique to each sufferer. Some feel constantly alert and wanting to fight. Some feel depressed and withdrawn and everything in between. Citizens, PTSD is deadly. In addition to the emotional destruction, it effects memory. In some, the sufferer remembers every event with crystal clarity and in others, their mind erases the event outside of their dreams where they relive them every night. Some studies suggest the constant stress of PTSD damages the hippocampus (which effects memory and decision making). Essentially, over time, the stress hormone (cortisol), attacks the hippocampus which shrinks it which causes more memory loss and difficulty remembering, more problems with stress and it creates a destructive cycle. https://www.verywellmind.com/the-effect-of-ptsd-on-the-brain-2797643 It's with this in mind that we hunted down a list of crisis hotlines across all of the countries of Terra.
