Good evening citizens, your Fastforecast is proud to come to you tonight with another episode of "Meet the Orgs" with Episode 6 where we had the distinct pleasure of meeting with A'Care Mining and Reclamation. It's not often (it's never happened before) that we get to sit down with a salvage crew, especially one that is a boutique salvage crew so this was quite the treat. As we have established in these, we will let the Director, Dr. Sage Parvil speak about his organization in his own words. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAt8ZrmtQNg Onto other news. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9swcdWVrQug It's never a good thing to see the black flag go up in Stanton and even worse when news goes out that Chaos Squad is recruiting so imagine the shockwaves when not only are they recruiting but they are actively teaching new wolves to sharpen their teeth on miners plying their trades peacefully. That is what we have tonight citizens. As is often the case, the Squad hide above Arial watching a miner cutting through ore with their ships powered to the absolute bare minimum, shields and weapons shut down to present minimum IR and EM signatures. What drew them, as what usually drew them to the miner, was the massive blue blast of a mining ping that was a dinner bell. As soon as the bell is rung, the pirates begin to educate the young wolf on the proper suit to wear to fit the most loot into it in the arid atmosphere of Arial, prioritizing space over protection. With those words still ringing, they descend on a Mercury Star Runner parked, empty while the owner mines quietly nearby. With the miner facing the ship mining ( a smart move), they are limited on approach vectors and deploy the new pirate with instructions to sneak onboard the MSR and immediately make towards the engine room and then hide. Past experience indicates they want him to hide until the Roc is onboard and then loot the vehicle while the pilot is flying and then continue this until they have pockets overflowing then flee, leaving the owner none the wiser. Full of bravado, the young buccaneer approaches the ship believing it an easy payday as the rest of the crew back off to station keeping distance only to hear "He sees me. He has a gun pointed right at me." The miner, somehow tipped off by the approach, draws on the young cutthroat and begins to open fire. The problem with opening fire anywhere near a ship is the shield envelope. As the shield is not a thin barrier of energy but rather a wall of energy, rounds fired outside of a meter of the skin of the ship are treated like any other attack and absorbed by the generators. Even those fired by it's owner in defense of his life. With the shields now protecting the pirate from the owner, the rest of Chaos Squad descend on the miner and engage, firing disruptors on the ship as well as EM blasts. Despite neither doing damage to a hull, the energy discharge from a disruptor has enough energy to dislodge a miner from under his ship and throw him like a rag doll where he was immediately dispatched with a grenade launcher. A sad end to an aware and cautious miner. With nothing but time on their hands, the Squad set about looting the vehicle as a Cutlass Black comes screaming into the area. Quickly setting upon the Drake ship, it scores multiple hits on the Mantis running overwatch as another unnamed ship makes a stealth approach over the horizon. Spooked, the pirates abandon trying to loot the ship on the ground and take the quick MSR and make for the black at full speed. Sometimes citizens, it's not enough to be prepared, you have to be smart. Know how your shields work. They not only stop them from hitting you, they stop you from hitting them. Next up, the weather: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yErfobiXLm8 That wraps it up for tonight. From all of us here at Fastforecast, we wish you a pleasant evening. Fly safe. Christmas in July During the month of July, respond to any of our reports and your name goes into a hat. End of July we start handing out 2 million aUEC packages until we empty the bank. That simple. We're looking for organizations to donate to make this as big as our Christmas giveaway and put some new pilots (and not so new pilots) in ships that they otherwise would have to save up for or cargo in those C2's. However the pilot wants to spend it. Up to them. Comment, win, spend. So if you or your org wants to donate, let us know. We'll keep track of who donates what, if you leave us your org logo, we'll post it on our "Donor list" on giveaway day and post up screen shots of the payout so that every aUEC is accounted for.
