Remember that 90% of ship traffic will be NPC's. Each of Stanton's planets is corporate owned and fully industrialized. Agriculture is limited to non-existent. Workers (and management) have to be fed. Where some see a problem, a potential bottleneck, others might see opportunity. Stanton I, a polluted planet where the Hurston corporation focuses on output and profit over any consideration for its workforce. Only those fringe dwellers, the outsiders, would try to farm this polluted planet as without access to the corporate store they have no other food sources other than hunting the few species hardy enough to survive the wasteland. Hurston would likely import bulk basic foodstuffs for its corporate stores to sell to the masses with luxuries for the executive classes only. Stanton II, a gas giant with floating shipyards and cities run by Crusader Industries values its lovely gardens but they can hardly be considered more than decorative, not contributing much to feed the many workers and tourists that come to this world. Crusader would import a wide variety of foodstuffs to serve the better treated population and supply the many restaurants for the affluent as well as stable middle class. Small farms on the moons of Crusader supply some of the fresh produce but can't manage to fill the full demand meaning that fresh food commands a premium price whether imported or locally grown. Stanton III is a megalopolis that ArcCorp has profited by hugely not only by building the industrial base it needed but also by leasing or selling land to its suppliers and even to rivals. Greenspace exists as more as parks, not as wide open farmland leaving ArcCorp to import bulk foodstuffs, processed foods as well as fresh foods for its teeming population. Stanton IV is on the fringe of the Green Zone where life can exist. Microtech has built biomes for its laboratories, factories and cities. With less sunlight from Stanton itself the few dedicated to horticulture are brightly light by artificial lights. For those who are work in sterile offices, labs and factories these are a natural attraction and a vital necessity to help keep them sane. However, that doesn't make them productive enough to feed Microtech's small population. This wealthy planet likely imports the best available foodstuffs, quite the contrast to Hurston. My guess that cargo ships that are inbound to Stanton's four planets are going to be mostly carrying foodstuffs while outbound they'll have the durable goods produced by these corporations. An enterprising org might consider the ways profit can be made by participating in this trade or, conversely, intercepting this trade. I will appreciate your thoughts and comments.
