Dear Administrator We, the residents of Area 18, demand a stop to the damage caused by this plague of aggressive running through our district. For centuries, spacers have suffered from running sickness and have been allowed to peacefully run throughout the galaxy, going from ships to shops, and everywhere in between without much issue. For the past few years however, visitors suffering from running sickness have begun aggressive interactions with seemingly random people. Some of these are as harmless as running back and forth right in front of someone, to violent shows of dominance, such as attempting to jump on top of others, often targeting shorter individuals, like women and children. These disturbing attacks have resulted in a 30% increase in insurance claims throughout Area 18, with similar reported near most spaceports. If this continues, we may see a harm to the economy from a lack of labor. With roughly 15% of injuries resulting in paralysis, many workers are opting to retire on their insurance claims rather than pay for the cybernetics to get back to work. Attempts to persuade workers to return to work through raises and bonus packages have proven ineffective, and may result in more authoritative intervention. We’ve strategized a few solutions for combating this problem. The most straightforward solution is to relax regulations requiring insurance to pay out on injuries preventing claimants from working. Another option is an aggressive galactic marketing campaign to bring a fresh workforce to ArcCorp, while quietly phasing injured residents out of our society. This has an added benefits of cheaper labor costs, and less strain on our social services. Increased security and enforcement of assault laws may help to curb the incidents, but runs the risk of scaring away many shipping assets, with reports stating that as many as 10% of whom suffer from running sickness. If this danger of rapid labor loss is not addressed soon, production and shipping costs may see a spike, cutting heavily into profits planet-wide. We trust that you’re doing everything in your power to remedy this situation. Thank you, Jonathan Fow Area 18 Resident Association Representative
