Grazer's Anchor, Pyro IV - Preliminary Geological Survey Heydan Seegil Independent Researcher New Babbage, Microtech, Stanton Abstract While not an entirely successful geological survey of the previously undocumented island now known as "Grazer's Anchor" is an oddity worth observation due to the unique species of Desert Quasi Grazer native to the island. Introduction Hostile does not always mean without life and in the case of Pyro [1] this typically means hostile life as well. In the case of "Grazer's Anchor" this stereotype couldn't be further from the truth as the unassuming little island is home to an indigenous species of Desert Quasi Grazer[2] who migrated to the island long before the oceans closed off their path back towards the main continent. Despite the lack of minable resources outside a single Dolivine [3] deposit there is some interesting geology on this island along with a spectacular sunset. Location The island of "Grazer's Anchor" from space appears white like an iceberg and is too small to be immediately seen, but per Figures 1-3 at roughly 589.5km from OM1 (North) it becomes quite visible off the coast. Naming and Description The name is derived from the native species of Desert Quasi Grazer which inhabits the island. The island of "Grazer's Anchor" is located on Pyro IV [4] in the Pyro system. Enviromental Warnings It is roughly below freezing in the location and breathable but with great difficulty. An environmental suite is recommended while visiting Grazer's Anchor. Observations Dotted by a few lagoons fed by the swirling coastal currents the little island of Grazer's Anchor displayed in Figures 4-7 despite only offering a single Dolivine deposit along the northern shoreline is Pyro's Galapagos Islands due to the rare species of Desert Quasi Grazer's native to the island. The primary geology is white beach sand thanks to the ocean locations with sandstone cliffs and the occasional large boulder. There are three herds of Desert Quasi Grazers who inhabit the island seen in Figures 8-11. Two in the south and one in the north which each survive in the low valleys near the inlet pond fed by the coastal lagoons. Due to the geology of the island the sand of the lagoons acts as a natural filter as water becomes displaced during the shifting of the tides resulting in it becoming trapped in these low laying areas. There is also an algae which forms under the sand due to sponge like nature of the island. This is the mana which the Desert Quasi Grazer has survived on since a time unknown undoubtedly resulting in some specific genetic traits which may distinguish them from other Desert Quasi Grazers. How these herds of Desert Quasi Grazers came to inhabit the island is anyone's guess because Quasi Grazers are not known to be adept swimmers but also because the islands are several kilometers from shore - much further than would be possible for non-aquatic fauna to swim. Thus, it can be safely assumed they had migrated on land to the island and become trapped after some geological even cut the island off from the nearest continent. Conclusion Since this was a preliminary report and primarily a geological survey it is highly advised that a follow-up study which focuses on the Desert Quasi Grazers themselves be conducted and a nature preserve established to protect this unique example of the species which has developed due a change in the planet's geology trapping them for generations on the island.
