Hejhey Preliminary Geological Survey Heydan Seegil Independent Researcher New Babbage, Microtech, Stanton Abstract With the gateway repaired and the jump point once again open to the system of Pyro from Stanton there has been much excitement and buzz about it. The system had been locked behind instability, both economically and the ability to safely travel there, for so long that the humble citizens of the United Earth Empire have almost forgotten the wonder of this once resource rich sector. For this reason, much is still not known about the planet of Bloom where Mt. Hejhey is located and this survey seeks to open the door for future survey attempts. Introduction Finding our way into the Pyro system [1] there is a wonder to explore around every dangerous corner for the brave adventurer. In this paper we will discuss the more primal danger of the environment through exploration. On the planet of Bloom [2] there happens to exist a mountain which had no name but is henceforth known as Mt. Hejhey. It stands along in an expansive dirt plain the color of turmeric walled in by lower mountain ranges and shallow seas. Location Mt. Hejhey is located on the planet of Bloom in the Pyro system. See Figures 1-3 for the orbital starmap location. Mt. Hejhey lies roughly 308.78km south-southwest from “The Yard” [3] and 347.84 km directly almost east of "Bueno Ravine" [4] which are the two closest settlements. Naming The name of the mountain is a combination of the old earth Swedish word for ‘Hello’ i.e. ‘Hej’ [5] with the English version i.e. ‘Hey’ [6] as it was fun to say, and the mountain greeted me twice. Once when I initially found it and then a second time after getting lost during my survey the second time. The darkness had made it tough and then the morning rains made the visibility even worse. As such it is highly recommended that future exploration teams at this location spend ample time gaining a better understanding of the local surroundings. Measurements and Surroundings The peak of Mt. Hejhey as shown in Figures 4-6 is shaped like a comma and sits at roughly 1.38km from ground level. While the surrounding plains are mostly flat there is a shallow gulley at the base of the mountain of no more than a few meters making the exact height a matter of debate. To the north-northeast there is an expansive marsh spotted with little ponds. To the east, south, and west there are rolling hills and yellow-orange plains of dirt with outcroppings of mostly black rock and sparse yellow grasses consumed by roving herds of Quasi Grazers. [7] To the north-northwest there is an expansive sea surrounded by muddy coasts. Observations Due to the predominance of Mt. Hejhey it offers spectacular views of the surrounding region. While other mountains do ring the valley and marshes in the nearby areas these mountains are part of ranges and sit much lower than Mt. Hejhey. The sea to the north-northwast and natural wind pattern brews up ample amounts of moisture which is corralled through the valley by the surrounding mountain ranges. From the peak of Mt. Hejhey Figures 7-9 show this is a sight to behold as beams of light dance down through the clouds painting bright spots of gold in the plains below. A juxtaposition of this are the brooding rain clouds which race past the peak of the lone mountain on top of Mt. Hejhey. Occasionally a herd of Quasi Grazers can be spotted as this rain has turned the surrounding regions into a lush feeding ground for these creatures. While they are known to be peaceful someone with enough gumption to anger them can and will swiftly find themselves on their rear after being charged by one of these large mammals. The marshy wetlands do not appear to have any aquatic wildlife, but I did not have much time to examine those areas on this excursion. However, from atop Mt. Hejhey clouds regularly deposited rain in the same locations after passing over a mountain range. Mt. Hejhey being a solitary needle in the region did little to force the weather to release moisture, but it does become quite wet during these storms. [8] As shown in Figure 10 caution is advised when transversing the rocky outcrops around the edges of the peak. Finally, it can get somewhat cold at the summit of Mt. Hejhey but nothing that moderately heavy jacket cannot protect someone from during the daylight hours. Conclusion A more rigorous survey of Mt. Hejhey is suggested along with the construction of a weather monitoring outpost as the location is ideal for studying weather patterns on Bloom. Soil and fauna sampling would be ideal as there may be resources in the area which could be of a benefit to all.
