Paladins Log-ENTRY 1730A The stars always look different in an alien sky... I don't think I'll ever get used to standing on dirt, has that smell...Gritty and entropic. The borealis was a spectacular backdrop to the dseolate dune-strewn landscape. I'm calling this planet, H04 for now, it's the fourth out from it's star, a sputtering little red dwarf that gave me a headache until it set. There was oxygen, barely, but the cold forced me into my environment suit after the sun set. I found an obelisk, black, with silver spirals running around its base. Like the other one, it had glyphs that I've translated into spatial coordinates. The first one led me to H04, so I'm hopeful that this one will lead me to something interesting. It took almost a year to figure out how to translate those glyphs, had to learn a little Ancient Ugaritic Cuneiform to figure it out. Similar syntax and structure... I was just finishing my scans when the locals attacked. About 100 or so, I'd guess. I never even saw them coming. They had me surrounded quick, and the six limbed suarians seemed to have murder on their minds, I suppose I was desecrating their sacred place with my presence or some such greivance. Didn't get the chance to ask before they attacked, it was comical to say the least. They swarmed in from all sides, screaming and yelling, black handprint body paint decorating most of their loincloth covered bodies. They jabbed furiously into the sides of my boots with their rockbladed spears, did I mention yet that they were about 3 inches tall? After I finished my work on the obelisk, I managed to pick one of the little guys up and get a few scans. Thought about keeping him, briefly, but that would be slavery. At least I think they were sentient, I didn't get much beyond screaming and spear thrusting... I decided to name them Achians, root word, ache. They were a bit of a pain to wade through without crushing. They followed me all the way back to my cyclone, one of them even managed to get up to my knee with a grapple and hook on the way. I had to flick him upside the head.... -END LOG ENTRY-
