Dear Star Citizen community, I want to share with you the first episode of the "Nemesis" Roleplay story. We want to evolve the Story by playing RP sessions and driving the idea without too much scripting on Live Streams and Roleplay sessions. I am not sure if everything perfectly conforms with the lore - I might need to adapt/change some details. Here you can find the "Nemesis" Trailer (CIG Trailer material with a voice-over): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ci6nl0u8eMc Please make sure to watch the Trailer after the reading as it happens right after the events below. Looking forward to your feedback! Part 1: Year: 2945 Quadrant: 117, North of Aremis – Vega II A colossal mass hurtles through the proximal quadrants of Vega II with no signs of slowing. The Idris-M, the flagship squadron cruiser of the UEE military, are tasked with monitoring celestial activity. Onboard twenty-eight men and women are sworn to protect the Vega system at all costs. Amongst those men and women, Neo Miles, military born and bred devoted to the cause. Lieutenant Harvey: "Sir, the data scan has come back, I…I think you need to see this, we found a reading which we were unable to identify. A possible asteroid with S Classification Sir." Commander Neo Miles: "Send out a probe and find out what we’re dealing with." Lieutenant Harvey: "Yes, Sir" Neo swipes his thumb across his Mobiglas and the screen lights up, no new messages from command. The worst part about being deployed sentry is the down time, Neo ached for action. Born on Vega, Neo joined the military to become a pilot, see the galaxy. That seemed like a lifetime ago. After several ground missions, he qualified to enter the UEE Navy as Fighter Squadron Member, with an exemplary career record the high-ups took notice. Four years ago, he was awarded with the Death Tango Space Force Medal for outstanding bravery in the field of combat operations and directly being involved in defeating the superior enemy forces. This earned him the Rank of Commander. While running standard operations Neo was called back to base, a top-secret mission had arisen from High-Command to search for and obtain an unknown device by any means necessary. Details about the mission and the device in question have all been wiped from file, no proof of the command remained. Upon his return Neo was detained for his crimes. It’s a long-standing rumour that he destroyed the device upon returning just before being arrested. After a very public trial and the following it gained, the military council reprimanded Neo, sending him back to Vega to join the System Defence Force. Lieutenant Harvey: “Sir… the data has come back… its… it’s not an asteroid” Commander Neo Miles: “What is it?” Lieutenant Harvey: “Early reports are indicating a closely compacted group of unknown origin; the readings are scrambled which indicate multiple sources. The way it’s moving… I don’t think it’s an asteroid Sir… Sir its changed course, it’s coming right towards the front line” Neo activated the on-ship warning through his Mobiglas that sent out a message to every ship in the System Defence Force, the message read; ‘Incoming unknown fleet, assume extreme hostility, call into place protocol 46. All Defences are authorised Shoot to kill This is NOT a drill’ Walking to the obs deck Neo could see a line of defence ships begin to move into formation for protocol 46, Invasion. Warning sirens began to sound as the unknown mass of ships came within range, almost instantly Neo knew who he was dealing with, but surely, they were no longer a threat… they’d been dealt with long ago. The Vanduul were a race not to be taken lightly, but after a bloody battle that lasted far too many years their presence in this sector was minimal… not like this. The mass of ships began to crumble apart as they took their positions ready to assault the frontline, Neo knew this wasn’t a battle they could win, not with just the SDS battleships and defences, the Vanduul were a relentless foe and in such numbers as this they were a force to be reckoned with. This wasn’t so much an invasion, it was a takeover. To Neo’s left flank two ships opened fire on the encroaching horde, Vanduul ships began to light up with direct hits from the goliath rail guns that make up the first line of defence of the SDS. Before no time at all they’d breached the defences and latched themselves to the ships of the SDS, this was the standard tactic of the Vanduul, swarm the defences and then steam roll with the big ships. If Neo couldn’t keep them from overthrowing his ship too then all hope would be lost. Spacing out shots from his rail gun, Neo filled the recharge and cool down time with cover shots from the secondary cannons. He could see ship after ship fire continual shots from their rail guns, and then as expected lose all power to the ships cores and black out. Neo couldn’t afford that to happen to his though, if he went down no one stood a chance. He saw an opening and fired his rail gun on the verge of overheating, with precision it avoided the first wave of Vanduul ships and hit a cruiser directing them from behind, simultaneously hundreds of ships fell into disarray. As Neo suspected, that was the key to driving back the enemy.
