When we first got the table top and card games, our roles have been pretty mutch phantasy. The pictures we created to our games have been inside our minds. We told each other what we saw, we could see each others picture thru his describtion, what the player saw in his mind. We could create and see our own world. Pong gave you the impression of being a player in a sports tennis like game. With 2 or 4 players you got a first contact to virtually real role play as you find yourself in a virtual team. Then we got this NPC thing, virtually fighting virtual NPC monsters for stories that came from one mind, the games fathers, i think about Anarchy Online here for example. Unity and community have been incredible grown on the internet over the last 40 years. Eve made a huge step-out here, the first successfull iteration of a virtual life where players write the stories, assisted by a game lore, it came to PvP and with that, to salt and sugar :slightly_smiling_face: But the roleplayers could give their roles a meaning, they got tools to make their vision virtually more real. The next logical step was ArcheAge to me, owning land, building houses, guilds, alliances, fighting for your property and wealth, the roleplay became more and more affected by tools that make it feel even more real. StarCitizen should be on top, a next generation of virtually real roleplay. That said, the restriction of weapon usage must fall. The punishment in areas where shooting is not allowed, must be bigger, if the law is broken. Why no prison ? Why no law enforcement ? Hex and Toytown are wonderfull ^^ Implementing tools for a virtually real roleplay is not a new thing, but we have a supercool new ground here in SC. We need those tools, that make a freedom of choice possible, that give decisions a meaning and that brand your role into a virtually real world. The balance btw. good and bad is soo important to create dynamics, both sides need equal tools to come into shape - a virtually real shape in a real virtual world. What is your plans, who are you in this virtual reality and what tools would you like to have, to give your role some weight ? .. let think about it ^^
