Hello there guys, I wanted to start sharing some roleplay background for my character in the 'verse. This is going to be a series of posts that will tell us a story that I'm going to "write" while I stream my sessions on Twitch. It starts from my first day in the 'verse and it will go all the way to nowadays. English is not my first language so please forgive me if I've used something not in the correct way. The plan is to keep the story going. The more I play the more I'll be adding chapters to this. If you want to be part of it, feel free to join me during my lives. We can also think together a way to add your characters and stories to build a whole new experience which is a mix of gaming and offline storytelling. It would be a honour to have you guys onboard. I had posted this on reddit too but I'm not sure that's the right scene for it so please forgive for the double post. I'll keep updating this here :slightly_smiling_face: I hope you'll enjoy reading my story as I have enjoyed playing it, streaming it and writing it :slightly_smiling_face: See you in the 'verse. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Being discharged with dishonor after 10 years of honorable service is something I do not recommend to anyone. It is like the world you tried so honorably to defend has just crumbled under your feet. If that happened because of the work of lackeys and middlemen the taste is even more sour. I am Frederick Bra’Vol and this is my story. On the brink of my 40th birthday I found myself in a pit from where I could hardly come out. I was without a job, without money, without a purpose and most importantly, for the rest of the society, without honour. I was far from my home world, the planet Earth, having joined the space forces to help other civilizations in our universe and to bring peace to contested sectors. I don’t remember how I ended up on the suburbs of Lorville in the Hurston sector of the Stanton system, I was probably too drunk to remember or was it because of that redhead that I met at Port Olisar? Images of a Circus in which people had animal heads were still popping in my mind. Did I imagine all of that? What about that lake with people drinking near the water? Was that also part of some tricks my mind was playing on me? Well I have no idea. The reality was that I was stranded in a city on a huge planet with nothing more than what I had on me which was just plain normal clothes, a bit shredded on the knees and definitely not clean. I was definitely at the lowest point of my existence. It was a cold day in November, I was on the floor on the entrance to the tube. I did not have plans, I was starving with literally no idea of what I was going to do. Would it have been easier to just jump under the tube and end all of this? Then all of a sudden I was struck by hope. I heard someone talking about some kind of exhibition that was happening on New Babbage. I think they were referring to a place on a different planet. Those people claimed that you could rent ships there...rent ships for free!. To someone that was left with nothing, a news like this was going to be really a Godsend. Could that be the sign I was waiting for ? Was that really the chance I needed to get back on my feet? There was just one little problem, where the hell is New Babbage? How do I get there? For the first time after the accident I was feeling alive again, it looked like I had a purpose as I really wanted to get back on my feet and start living again. I remember I spent the next few days getting as much information as possible about the place where the expo was going to happen. I managed to land a few gigs here and there as a delivery boy which gave me just enough credits to buy a passage. Apparently this city was on another sector of the Hurston system so a passage wasn’t definitely something cheap. I think I will never forget my surprise when we were approaching the huge building that is the New Babbage International Spaceport, all clad in white as apparently ( I learnt that too late unfortunately, damn cheap information you get on the streets of Lorville) this planet has a temperature that is almost all the time around -60°C. The inside of the spaceport felt so new and clean, definitely another view compared to what I was used to on Lorville. I could not believe my eyes when I made my first step on that white floor. Unbelievable how they are able to keep a place as clean as this no matter how many people are walking on its floors. I had made my first move, it was time to finish what I started. Following the indications in the tube was pretty easy and I could see this big building where I was supposed to find the Expo. I remember just looking at everything in awe because I wasn’t expecting any of this while travelling on a tube. All in all getting there was pretty easy. Now the problem was simple: Which ship am I going to get? What do I want to do for the rest of my life? I have been in the army for quite a long time, anything would have been good for me but in my mind there was not much room for fighting anymore, at least not now so in the end the choice was for a freighter. The idea was to do trading to get back on track. Earn some cash and make a living of this delivery business. Maybe at some point I would have been able to buy my own ship. They call it Mercury Star Runner, from Crusader industries it is a hell of a ship. I do not think I’ve ever seen anything so beautiful ever. The shape of it, the colours, the inside of the ship. All is so well assembled that I really think this is the ship of my dream. I wonder if I’ll ever be able to buy such a vehicle. I can’t stop thinking at the moment when I sit on the pilot’s seat. It felt so good, it felt so warm. I was back in action and I had all the universe in front of me!
