...floating in the space above Port Olisar, checking my mission logs. I received a message from one Elaine Ward, looking for information about her missing husband near the Covalex hub. I accepted, then charted my course to Daymar, and then made a short hop to the hub. I came out of the quantum jump and scanned the area for any pirates lurking around. My scans just showed a friendly cutlass black. I moved closer to the hub, left my mustang and entered through the breach. The monitor in front blinked with a new message, upon answering a message started to play to start my descent down this rabbit hole. I heard some muffled bangs like the sound of laser cannons. I quickly turned around and saw my mustang blown to pieces. More laser fire flashed by me, and I saw a cutlass black push away the scraps of my little ship. I pulled my pistol out and started firing at it, as another ship appeared and scared the cutlass away. I decided to continue down through the hub. I found log after log and still the pounding of lasers could be heard, looming just overhead. I popped out of a sleeping pod to see two people standing heavily armed outside. They weren't looking in my direction. I pulled out my pistol and aimed down the sites. I don't think these guys were in the mood for talking. I popped a shot off at one, and they moved behind a wall. Damn... I wasn't ready for a gun fight. My pistol ran dry after a couple shots. I hid in a corner but the quickly found me, and the shotguns made short work of me. I woke up on Olisar again and had a hunger for a cold dish. I filed a claim on my ship and decided to visit the armorer. I found a nice little devastator energy shotgun and made sure to grab some extra clips. I got in my little ship and made the jump again. This time upon arrival there were firefights all around the hub. I made short work of the opposition weaving around them like an annoying mosquito taking chunks out of them. I looked around and only saw friendlies so this time I navigated my ship into a small little nook. Powered it off so it wouldn't show up on scanners, and hopped out. I reentered the breach again. I had one last data pad to find to complete the mission. After getting a little lost I came upon the sleeping pods again. I turned the corner to see the backs of 2 armed people again! I backed up slowly and jumped into sleeping pod #3. It was pitch black. I pulled out my boomstick, loaded it up. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. I sent a message out on the comms channel "Who is in Covalex?". I heard nothing but static, I guess I have to go out guns blazing. The door to the sleeping pod opened and I saw someone look in and quickly jump out of the way. I moved my position in the tiny pod lined up my shot on the opening and waited... The door opened again and I took my shot. The person who opened the door took a full shot to the face, went limp and floated away. However his friend behind him remained. I took another shot. A direct hit, but not enough to get through his armor. With no where to run and no cover, the other person took his shots. My thin spacesuit provided little protection against plasma shots. My body went limp and drifted around the sleeping pod. I woke up again at Port O. My mission was unsuccessful, but I was left with a satisfaction that the one who survived was leaving the station alone. We will see how this story ends tonight. I woke back up at Olisar. Retrieved my ship and picked up another devastator shotgun. I crouched underneath my sleek mustang and entered through the port on its underbelly. Climbed up the ladder and entered the pilot seat. Elaine must have heard of my demise the other night because our mission contract was retracted. I contacted her again and assured her I was the person who could find out about her partner's death. She reluctantly agreed and a navpoint popped up on my HUD. Back to Covalex one last time. Again there were pirates floating around the area, trying to raid unsuspecting ships. I did the local authorities a favour, those pirates won't be bugging anyone today. I saw an avenger at the Trading hub. They must be doing an investigation too. Maybe for insurance claims. I sent out a comm wide message, "Friendly at Covalex, just completeing a job". Hopefully they will take my word for it and we won't have to negotiate by other means. I wedged my small mustang underneath the landing platform, out of sight from anyone who would want to do her any harm. Hopefully for the last time I entered the Breach. All the data I collected through previous runs had been wiped clean, guess I'm going to have to do my run again, luckily I knew were all the terminals were this time around. I holstered my gun so in case I bumped into the person flying the Avenger on the landing pad, we wouldn't have any misunderstanding. I am not foolish enough to leave my gun back on my ship. Negotiations could be "short". I weaved through the debris, the jets of my suit propelling me through the weightless wreck. Speed was the idea this time. Get in and get out. Bam, I was going to fast. I slammed into a wall, ricocheted off of it, spinning in circles. I used my suit to reorient myself. I was in a central computer room when I heard shots fired. They were coming from the outside of the wreck. I turned my head, looked across the room, and saw a figure standing there looking back, gun raised. I ducked behind a terminal. Frantically typed into the Open comms: "Covalex Friendly!". I drew my gun just in case. Peeked out from behind my cover...gone! They weren't there. I re-positioned, just in case they came back guns blazing. Was there really a person there or were my eyes playing tricks on me. I found the last terminal, ran my script to override the console and extracted the data. I found a nook, and contacted Elaine and uploaded the data to her. She was grateful and transferred the aUec to me. Time to make it back to my ship. As I made my way back I heard the pounding of plasma cannons on the hull. Someone didn't want people to leave. I heard the explosion of a ship and my heart sunk into my chest, I frantically looked at my HUD to find my baby. It was still there! I rushed out of the breach to see a 300I turned the other way and a lifeless body drifting off into the void. Poor Soul. My ship was still in its wedge. I carefully and slowly crept into the interior of it. I new as soon as I turned it on, all eyes would be on me. The "Flight Ready" switch was flipped and I jetted out of my nook. That 300I wouldn't get away with blowing up people's unattended ships and MURDER. I locked onto his heat signatures, pulled my ship around. I was currently preoccupied with a new ship that had come to investigate this wreck. They started to fire at the parked ship, I drew close and laid into them. My cannons made sort work of the 300I's small shields. and teared through the hull. As I pulled into Port Olisar, Elaine contacted me. "Thanks for your work, here's a little something extra for your help". 500 extra credits appeared into my account. A job well done.
