I watched the entire video and will try to summarize the content of Av1's video so that we can all talk without just saying "delete MM" or "go away if you don't like it" or posting a link without any explanation. Feel free to correct me if you think I misrepresent A1's statements. I will correct the post. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNm8RaKHLHg Summary in chronological order: "It takes a couple weeks to a month" to train someone in pre-MM. Pro players play 8 to 10 hours a day and their feedback is a valuable tool offered by players and therefore should be used more. Trichording isn’t the pro-player's most valuable tool in combat. Pros can still kill an overwhelming amount of less skilled players, proven in his streams and videos. MM creates a rock-paper-scissors system where the Interceptor is overpowering all other types. Physical size, burst dps and acceleration especially are the only metrics that matter in combat. "The maximum Gs you get it what matters" The decreasing player numbers are connected to MM. No one buys Constellations or similar multicrew ships because they do not hold up in PvP. SCM, NAV and boost seperate the general flight into speed zones. To fix MM, you need an "asymmetric speed zone but only one speed zone": a pre-MM flight model. Concerns are that CIG is going to nerf the Buccaneer and just create a new meta without solving problems of MM. Chasing other ships hits a speed limit which makes it impossible to catch up QT snares leaves you dead in the water. No shields, no speed, no weapons. No one cares about how fast the speeds are but rather how fast the pilots feel. Missiles can’t exist in WW2 era speed fights because those clash with flight characteristics of that era. As missiles came in, fighter speeds got higher. CIG does not understand what SC flight combat is. My opinion: The experience Av1 has is one I think I will never get. I can’t play the hours he put in and will therefore never reach his skill level. I will never reach his prowess and combat will always feel fundamentally different to me than it does to him. He says no one buys ships because they do not hold up in PvP which I see as a prime example of him being a pro-PvPer: He does not interface with other gameplay to understand the wide variety of players SC has. This limits who he speaks for. I just wanted to mention that. It's not something that makes his opinon less worthy of being acknowledged. His point about the new speeds being unintuitive is not clear to me. Trichording always was pro-player magic to me for example but the new speeds are easier to grasp in my opinion. I have big thrusters in the back, therefore I am the fastest when accelerating forwards. He says MM metas are devastating for the flight experience while the old flight model also had the Arrow (or any light fighter). I think the key information to focus on is “To fix MM, you need an "asymmetric speed zone but only one speed zone" (a pre-MM flight model). He wants high speeds with the egg shaped speed zone. That is contradictory to what he says about the flaws of MM being the speed wall when trying to catch up. Maybe he wants to include trichording again in which case his proposal would be sound. If trichording is the key skill I need, I would be down to learn it. He denies that though but never elaborates on what skills make a good pilot aside from trichording. I think it’s the general understanding and knowledge about ship characteristics and player behaviour but would’ve liked to hear about that more. His opinion about the PU being empty is wrong. People simply wait for content patches and we have seen little content this year compared to what CIG planned. Pick anything you'd like to talk about. I am tired of all the "MM bad" and "go away" talk.
