Hey folks, With the new AEGIS Nautilus being announced, I noticed that it supports a crew of 8. The last large AEGIS ship added, the AEGIS Hammerhead, has a crew compliment of 9 according to it's page on the site. Do you think the Reclaimer's crew of 5 is too small? I know that you could always take more people with you, but in terms of crew facilities and escape pods, the Reclaimer only officially supports 5 people. 4 crew + captain. The Reclaimer is a little larger then the Hammerhead, especially in terms of verticallity. There are multiple stations that with a crew of 5 can't be manned all at once. Now, I know technically you will not need to man all the stations at the same time, and let's face it.. it's hard to make the call how everything will work in tandem and which stations you will need to man at what time.. because the required mechanics aren't in the game yet. Also, I think some parts of salvage mechanics will be automated but we'll just have to see. For the sake of argument, let's have a discussion. How I see it, a potential salvage scenario works like this: You come across a salvage site. let's say it's a large ship, like a Starfarer... which makes sense, as they have stated that you'd likely want to use a Drake Vulture for small salvage jobs. You launch a drone to determine it's structural integrity, any potential hazards and to locate a suitable entry point. Then you put together a team to go check out the internals; to perhaps salvage any loose components, cargo and items, perhaps download some raw data off the derelict's computer. Also.. Aliens. Bring a gun. Bring lots of guns. Screw it. Bring a flamethrower. Anyway... I think you always want to keep some people on board the Reclaimer. Perhaps there's a part of the salvage you can start while the away team is busy, or in any case to respond to any potential emergencies. As I see it you have the choice of either sending 2 people over, or 3. As we're going to have the "Manned Cutter" at some point, perhaps 3 is the best option but again, we have no idea. Either way you're leaving not enough people on board the Reclaimer to man the various drone stations, claw operation, salvage/tractorbeam stations, scanning stations and engineering, let alone to respond to any issues or emergencies. So in my opinion, a crew of 7 or 8 would just give a little more wiggleroom without having too many cooks in the kitchen. I think that, with the "manned cutter" still being on the drawingboard (as DiscoLando confirmed a while ago), it's likely CIG will take another look at the Reclaimer, to fit the parasite ship somewhere and get things in line with (then hopefully working) salvage mechanics. Perhaps they can take another look at it's crew compliment. Also, I hope they make some changes to the elevators and fix the physics grids but that's a topic for another day. Anyhow, that's my 2cts. I'd love to hear what other people think of this. Cheers!
