Hello fellow 890 owners! At Citizencon, the 890 Jump Club, pictured below, swarmed John Crewe, the Vehicle Pipeline Director at Foundry 42 UK, and the man overseeing the production of our beautiful 890 Jump. The questions were compiled thanks to contributions from the hundreds of Jump Club members. Special thanks to @Jorunn for orchestrating the Q&A. Below is a compilation of all the answers we were able to get from him, though note that all of this is subject to change as the 890 goes through the pipeline. The 890 Jump is now just shy of 200m. Most have speculated this to mean between 185 and 195 There are 4 guest suites; 2 on the atrium deck, 2 on the deck above There is still a battle bridge at the core of the ship. According to @Seryn, " it is an enclosed space- but uses cameras to view the bridge" It still has command and control ability, though no holosphere like an Idris. It's command and control ability will be similar to other ships of it's size and radar capacity It can fit a 300 series in a top loading hanger The cargo capacity is going to be around a few hundred. The 1600 was the old FU measurement The components stats are correct and have not changed It was confirmed that the 890 will focus on being defensive rather than heavily armed The 890 will be slower than a Polaris. It is not confirmed how fast it will be as that takes place in balancing The Grotto has a glass floor above the bottom of the rocks @Jorunn reminded me that it should be "on par" with a 600i Ex in terms of exploration capability, just with a bigger radar. The 890 Jump will gain 2 auto-turrets not currently listed (The point Defense turrets from the original concept) From @Seryn, the lower decks will have have view ports connected to cameras, allowing the same functionality as a window, but without the need for an actual Takeaway The battle bridge is still there! Personally one of my biggest concerns was it being removed. I do find it odd that there is no holosphere for Command and Control, as that will limit you to 2D displays, and given the size of the Jump, I don't find it unreasonable to add one. @Seryn has pointed out that a C&C holosphere has been ruled out, so there is still the possibility for one in another part of the ship. When it comes too speed, it wasn't stated if the Polaris was using it's auxiliary thrusters or not. My personal hope is equal too or faster than a Polaris while under normal operation, but the Polaris will outstrip an 890 when it turns on it's 4 additional auxiliary thrusters. This will obviously be tuned in during the balancing phase, and will change over the course of development. Nothing was said about a medical bay, but if it doesn't come with one standard, I hope we'll be able to switch one out with the modular room system For those complaining about the cargo "nerf," the 1600 we currently have on the ship page is a holdover from the old freight units messurement: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/258468758354526209/500070742847651851/Screenshot_20181011-172150__01.jpg. 1600 FU is equivalent to 360 SCU, so I'd expect to be around that number. According to John, the reason it was made longer was due to the size of the Large hangar vs XL hangars. They decided to make to big enough to fit in an XL hangar, as it was slightly to large to fit in a Large hangar. I found the Exploration ability to be exactly what I wanted/ expected. This isn't a competitor to the Carrack, but it still will a good ship for finding points of interest while out touring. All in all, I found everything said extremely reassuring. The 890 is shaping up to be the king of luxury, while still offering compelling gameplay to non-roleplayers Join the Discussion: robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/890JCLUB For those who havn't seen it: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/65299/thread/890-jump-all-the-infos-all-the-dev-posts/40275 Updates: @Hendell on competition components: " Competition should be fine as long as you run it at 80% most of the time, and high quality standard configuration parts should be quite good, and the best mix of all features" @Hendell on the Battlebridge: " In theory a battle bridge is both away from the exterior of the ship, and lacks anything like a window. Think of it like a 'safe room' with flight controls and video screens" @Jorunn on the pool: "Pool has grav for the water and a cover so water won't be lost in zero g, and the grotto tub is a hot tub " Added 11, 12, and 13. Numbering has been fixed, along with multiple grammatical errors
