First off. I'd like to preface that this isn't a plea for the 890 to be able go broadside with an Idris. Before swathes of people say the same thing in the replies, no, it isn't simply a space yacht. It is a deep space explorer that is designed to compromise nothing in the way of comfort or expense. Should the 890 project the same power as a warship and go toe to toe with military capitals? No. Should it be intimidating to anything smaller than it? Yes. There is a sweet spot. And the 890 currently isn't even close. It may be the best party boat in the verse, but it can also serve as a hospital, a search and rescue vehicle, a command and control flagship capable of coordinating fleet movements, can carry assets akin to the Polaris and Idris alike, mobile base, deep space explorer. Mining or salvage mothership, org base. The list goes on. My point here is that it needs to identify itself as a choice when selecting a capital ship of similar value. It has to offer something that would make someone deploy it over say a Polaris. I believe I have a solution. It should be the most efficient ship of it's size to be crewed by a small group by way of being the most technologically advanced capital ship in the verse. • It's avionics suite should come grade A from the factory • All hardpoints come with tier 2 blades. • a S2 tractor beam should be placed on the rear end exterior of the ship behind the cargo lift for easy loading with a control panel safely nestled in the ground vehicle bay • both the dual S4 turrets on the belly and bow of the ship should be upgunned to a quad S4 and the top turret should be slaved to pilot. If a Polaris can sling 2.5 million damage in 3 seconds and the Idris gets a nearly hitscan capital sniper railgun. The 890 should be able to do the DPS of a medium fighter with some cannons. • 100i fuel scooping capability, allowing the 890 to be more performance-oriented and efficient with it's fuel usage. • Lockable bridge doors for both the glass canopy and the warbridge and Captain's Quarters/Executive Suite for improved boarding defence. • Half the hull armor and health of the Polaris. 2.5 million HP bare minimum. The 890 having close to the hull integrity of a terrapin is absolutely insane. These changes i believe are in line with the original brochure that Chris Roberts outlined back in 2014. Giving it clear differences in functionality but not being too combat focused. It has been a piñata for connies for too long. And quite frankly, I'm frustrated because my friend group refuses to crew my 890 in favor of my Polaris. And I can't blame them. Thus making me feel like my investment into my absolute favorite ship was wasted. You cannot introduce more capital ships into the game without atleast addressing the 890. It is time for the 890 to project the idea of power and status that it was designed to instill. instead of being the joke that it has been. It is the endgame aUEC goal of nearly every player. Being oneshotted by an Idris is not the legacy it deserves.
