GIDEON RASTEBAN STERNE-RASHID AL-BOREANI
Borean stock. Grew up on a shipyard world where the shift horn
ran the day and nobody waited to be told what needed doing.
Went into the fleet to get off Magnus. Was still in when the
Vanduul came through Vega. Came out the other side with a
service record, a set of habits he never dropped, and no
particular deference to rank.
Flies his own hull now. Runs a sortie like a shift — brief it,
work it, walk away. Grey in the beard, high fade above;
the grooming stayed, the regulations didn't.
The family name means guided by the star. His flight calls him
Malish, "never mind, what can you do?" because that's what he
says about damage that would ground anyone else.
Captains when it's his turn; crews when it isn't.
