Joseph Laren was born in New Austin, Terra System. As the son to an Advocate and retired Commander in the UEE Navy, he joined the UEEN on the completion of his educational studies. He attended University in Terra Prime and two years working at the Origin Jump Works’ HQ. Laren showed an aptitude for unconventional thinking whilst training at the MacArthur Academy and was praised by his instructors for his unique, albeit unsuccessful, approach to the final “no win” scenario test. After several tours of duty, Laren was recommended for Advanced Tactical Training and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander soon afterwards. He was reassigned to the UEES “Charon” deployed to deep strike recon missions into Vanduul space. Laren briefly commanded the Charon during the attack on Vega II however, the ship was ultimately lost in the battle. The exact details of the Charon’s involvement remains classified but Laren is now a pilot with the Armitage Company after taking early retirement following the Vega incident.
