Ship log.. Brand new Asgard fresh out of the Hangar for her first flight with all shiny new paint too, of course I scratched on way out.. Oops! It was a great first shakedown flight to Seraphim station, I was headded there as a waypoint to pick up supplies (ammo/med/food) to help out my Org on some planned Ops we had in Pyro later in the day.
On arrival and docking my Asgard at Seraphim station, I called the local hangar services guys and got them to deliver my F7C-M Super Hornet, I figured while I wait for the cargo team to load up my Asgard I'll do a bit of space bounty contracts then get back and setup or the Pyro run. I always like to keep my piloting skills sharp, well dodging asteroids inncombat while under fire on bounty's will certainly help! So with all that combat fun over and after a quick stop to the local enforcement to collect my bounty money, time to check in with Seraphim station on my Asgard Cargo load then fly off in it with the supplies onboard. I kept my fingers crossed that the Control Tower didn't have a long departure queue.. I know that it's a busy space port due to it's proximity orbiting above Cruisader.
Thankfully there was no big departure delay and this time I didn't scratch the paint on my way out through the Hangar doors.. Phew! I plotted in a course to Pyro Gateway in the nice new Nav Computer, took a bit to figure out the fancy holo-interface but I did like it! Quantum drive engaged and then over to the autopilot, giving me some nice time to sit back grab some refreshments while watching the stars zoom by, I love the view in Quantum travel.
I decided not to stop at the Pyro Gateway station, I had enough Quantum fuel onboard to get through into Pyro so I headed right for the Wormhole gates and spun up my jump drive. I always think its a beautiful view looking into that big blue cloud on the Stanton system side, it's a swirling spherical whirlpool like void which you know is about to swallow your ship and catapult you into another galaxy. I have great respect for Crowshaw who took on that first wormhole voyage into the unknown from the Terra system in 2312 and all those pioneering pathfinder explorers who followed in his footsteps afterwards to discover new solar systems and set the foundations of everything we have now.
Following those early space explorers, in my own small way, I headded through the Stanton end of the Wormhole. The Asgard handled like a dream all the way through, she was really maneuverable for her size taking on all the gravimetric eddies and surfing the 12-dimensional helical verteon membrane waves with ease, definitely giving me a good first impression on her maiden voyage from Stanton to Pyro. This good experience helped me out a bit personally and emotionally as this Asgard was a replacement for my beloved Zeus CL, her components got too costly to repair and the bumps and scrapes from a good hauling life started to become very obvious but I still miss her tho sadly it was time to move on and get an upgrade.
On arrival into Pyro I had to dodge soo much floating debris, I guess the Pyro Gateway station do their best to clear the transit lanes these days though, I think it must of been a really bad mess in the past tho. By now I was low on Quantum fuel so needed a quick hop stop top up at Stanton Gateway, I guess as the Asgard is mostly for military drop ship use the Quantum Tank wasn't designed to hold much but thats ok I plan to work around that in future voyages.
My final destination from the Pyro end of the Wormhole was Ruin Station, after a quick departure request to the Stanton Gateway Space Station Control Tower and plotting the route into my Nav Computer holo-interface I got underway again. By now I was getting thirsty and the destination was a while away so Mid-Quantum flight I left the autopilot in charge and hopped out of the pilot seat for some refreshments. DISASTER.. after a quick break I decided to check on the cargo but my foot slipped on the Asguard's internal ladder as I headded down into the main loading area, I fell and was incapacitated slowly dying. With no help on hand I revived had to rely on my last medical Imprint, risky thing these days, but it was in Babbage Millions of lightyears away from my ship and Cargo in Pyro.
Well I got back up all renewed and alive again but soo far away from my brand new Asgard ship.. Aaarrgghh!! I was rather embarrassed, annoyed with my clumbsy stupidly and strangly still had a headache tho I put that down to some sort of post recovery lingering phantom symptom from my left Pyro based dead body.
Things didn't get better for me this day though, after chatting with the New Babbage spaceport staff I was told their hangars were all down for maintenance.. more bad Space Luck for me!! I decided to call up the general chat Space Waves for a lift to any other location offering a 10k contract to any good captain willing to help. Thankfully I got a pickup on a fancy Origin 890 Jump to Port Tresser, perhaps my Space Luck was changing for the better and theres nothing like travelling in style, Oh yeah.. I helped myself to a good Malt Whisky onboard at the ships luxury bar before hopping off and paying my boarding fee, well it helped the headache and after my tragedy I needed a wee 'pick me up' glass of something strong!
I hopped off the 890 at Port Tresser and celebrated the fact that their Hangars were up and running, no time to waste tho so I grabbed my trusty Avenger Titan from storage and speeded off to get the Asgard and Cargo that were still floating somewhere in Pyro!! I got to the Pyro Gateway as quick as possible, put the Nav on maximum Quantum burn for a speedy trip but this meant I had to stop and refuel before travelling into the Wormhole. The good thing is that my Avenger Titan is a nippy wee ship so easy to dock and quite reliable, it was the first spacecraft I owned after completing the training academy and I thinks of it fondly because of this.
Off through the Stanton end of the Wormhole again, facing a wee bit more turbulance from those gravimetric eddies this time, you really feel them in a smaller ship but I know how my Avenger Titan handles and she will surf those wormhole waves nicely, I actually find it to be good fun too.. Zoom Zoom and.. WooHoo!! Once on the Pyro side, my Nav Computer located the beacon indicating the position of my Asgard ship on the scopes, yup it's also holding my clumbsy Dead body *Sigh* and all that cargo but it was right on the other Edge of Pyro and drifting out, Hmmm I figured it would be risky but I need it back so decided to hopped into Quantum as the Nav Computer said I can make it, I guessed "Green is a GO"..
Well.. DISASTER.. struck again, no surprise there given my space day so far, as I didn't make it all the way to the Asgard in Quantum and ran out of fuel outside the Pyro system and nowhere nearby to stop or anyone to rescue me, I was already far into interstellar space! All I could do was watched on the Nav Map as my Asgard drifted further away I laughed and thought.. Perhaps it'll make a nice discovery for an alien explorer someday, or just be scrap by then! At this point I had to look back at this day and find some amusement in it to keep me sane. I prayed that the medical services were still working back in Stanton and was happy I decided to transfer my imprint o Port Tresser before leaving in my Avenger Titan earlier on. With no other options availableto me this far out in space, I triggered the Self Destruct and watched the countdown tick.. 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1.. BOOM!
I regened in Port Tresser, called my Insurance company and got a replacement for my trusty Avenger Titan along with another shiny new Asgard.. without my Cargo though as I didn't pay extra to cover that, maybe regretting that now! So factoring in Ship replacement costs, fuel, lost cargo and freindly travel aid costs I was now 100k down and still had a headache.. Grrr, not a great day so I decided to put my feet up for a while and grab a quick Beer in the Port Tresser station.. thinking "I'll pick up a nice tasty Hauling contract to cover my losses tomorrow" as I figured the Asgard should pay it's way with all the space it has inside.
Well you take the good and the bad but I guess thats all part of a days life in space.
SubNote : Thanks for reading my ships log, I hope you enjoyed it, Cheers - Renzath SpaceWolf
