Kinshadow’s 2017 Cosplay Build

Hey Cits and Civs! This is a behind-the-scenes / how-to post for my 2017 Versecon cosplay. I made a similar post for my 2016 Citcon cosplay here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/community/citizen-spotlight/6164

This build only covers the Heavy Marine helmet part. I reused the jacket, etc. from my 2017 costume, but I added a generic black military webbing on top to just break up the vertical lines of the under armor.

You can see the steps I went through to make the helmet in the pictures below. Just mouse-over the pics to get a description. Like last year, I started with the Evil Ted Smith (http://eviltedsmith.com) base form and then cut into it to give me an armature to work from. There are a bunch of other cheap basic helmet patterns out there that should work just as good. NOTE: Unlike last year, I had more drift from the pattern as I went. Some things lined up differently after I glued them down, so there was more improvisation. So, use the templates with a grain of salt. Either way, they should be a good starting point.
