Operation: ASD Defection – Event Recap
Hey everyone,
For those who don’t know me, my name is Galidrum, and I run the organization Order 66. We just hosted our largest and most successful event yet, and I wanted to share a recap of how it all went down.
As I am sure most of you know, CIG is running the B-Story, AKA this ASD storyline. We are now kicking off our revitalized C-Story (Community Story), and the events that you see described below will factually change the storyline at future events. So none of this was scripted, and based on the wins and losses of various outcomes, will directly change the story
The Story
Gerald Butnik, a research assistant with deep knowledge of ASD’s dealings and projects, reached out to Order 66, looking to defect and sell off secrets (fitting, since we specialize in player trading).
Gerald, played by community member CitizenGroza, was hidden away inside a random Onyx Facility. But ASD caught wind of his plan and dispatched a team of special operations soldiers—our Order 66 FPS players—kitted out in the newest ASD Geist armor. They kept Gerald under watch for several hours.
Mission One: Storming Onyx
As operations leader, I had about 35 players to command. I deployed 15–20 of them to storm the facility, secure Gerald, and extract him safely. What followed was an hour-long FPS battle inside the complex against the ASD team. It was intense, bloody, and cinematic—ultimately ending in a successful rescue of Gerald Butnik.
Mission Two: The Polaris Ambush
While that was happening, a separate drama unfolded. Near a mining outpost on Wala, pirates attacked and hijacked a Polaris carrying another ASD scientist.
Order 66 dispatched Team Two, composed of members from Quantum Jump Medical and Virtanen Intergalactic. Their task: breach the Polaris, secure the ship’s data logs, and capture the scientist onboard (played by SonoJosh).
The mission went off smoothly. Despite being slightly outnumbered (5 vs. 8–9), we had the element of surprise. The team successfully breached, secured the logs, and extracted the hostage.
The Large-Scale Battles
Meanwhile, the majority of players were involved in three massive simultaneous space battles across Stanton:
OM-1, Magda (8:41 pm kickoff): Mostly Harmless vs. ODSR in a 30v30 battle, One fielding an Idris plus fighter support (ODSR) and the other with a Polaris and fighter support (MH). The fight escalated into boarding actions on both capitals while dogfights raged overhead. Mostly Harmless ultimately destroyed ODSR’s Idris, though ODSR nearly self-destructed MH’s ship before it was stopped. Ghost Hollow, MicroTech (8:45 pm): Contact Zero + Coalition vs. BleightVeil in another 30v30 engagement, featuring A1 bombers and brutal fleet combat. BleightVeil pulled out the win after a hard-fought clash. SkyScraper, ArcCorp (8:56 pm): Ronin + Coalition vs. Driftbourne in a 25v25 fight, each side fielding an Idris. This battle included devastating A1 bombing runs, leading to heavy losses on both sides. In the end, Ronin + Coalition narrowly claimed victory. These fights happened because Gerald Butnik had claimed he would arrive at one of these locations, so multiple groups scrambled to secure the areas, not realizing our backup mission would keep him safe elsewhere.
The Grand Finale
To cap everything off, we gathered all participating groups (plus a few extras) at Lyria, OM-3, for an epic one-life-only free-for-all space battle. Hundreds of ships poured into the fight, creating absolute chaos and cinematic moments everywhere.
