The Unified Currency Riot was a two-week period of political unrest and violence in Jata, Cestulus (Davien II) in 2529 following the introduction of the United Earth Credit (UEC) to the United Planets of Earth (UPE) market. The riot began when a private security officer discharged his weapon into a protesting crowd on the steps of the local SSN/CAtv headquarters. Hundreds were injured in the subsequent riots and several died when the UPE military ultimately intervened, bringing two weeks of looting, vandalism, and property destruction to an end.
