Genesis I is a mesoplanet in the developing Genesis system. Because it lacks a protective atmosphere, its surface is pockmarked with thousands of craters caused by meteorite bombardment, and its core is partially exposed. In 2933, the observation station Lalahon located in the planet's polar region was destroyed in a meteor strike. There were no casualties thanks to an early detection and evacuation, but the institute funding the station elected not to rebuild after it was unable to secure additional grant money from the United Empire of Earth (UEE).
