HISTORY OF THE 122nd CADIAN REGIMENT

Kasr Kraf Jackals – “Bayonet Barons”
“CADIA STANDS!”

Origins – The Birth of a Cadian Regiment

The 122nd Cadian was raised on the fortress world of Cadia, a planet whose sole purpose was war. Like all Cadian Shock Trooper regiments, it was forged in discipline, drilled from childhood, and hardened to stand as an unbreakable line against the enemies of mankind.

Unlike lesser regiments of the Astra Militarum, the 122nd was a combined-arms force, fielding infantry supported by armour and artillery—built not merely to fight, but to hold ground against overwhelming odds.

From its earliest deployments, the regiment earned two names:

  • Kasr Kraf Jackals – for their methodical, predatory warfare
  • Bayonet Barons – for their relentless use of close assault
The Vintock III Campaign (M40)

The regiment first distinguished itself during the Winter Campaign on Vintock III, a brutal war fought in freezing, hostile conditions.

There, the 122nd proved its defining trait:
not speed, not brilliance—but endurance.

They advanced through ice, held positions in blizzards, and broke enemy resistance through sheer persistence. It was here the regiment’s doctrine was truly forged:

Hold. Advance. Endure.

The Siege of Vogen – Khai-Zhan Uprising (M41)

The defining moment in the regiment’s history came during the Khai-Zhan Uprising, in the war-torn city of Vogen.

Deployed to defend the city’s spaceport and urban strongholds, the 122nd faced:

  • Chaos Space Marines of the Night Lords
  • Traitor Guard forces
  • Cultist uprisings
The Fall of the 122nd

Under the command of Captain Fane, elements of the regiment were thrown into chaotic urban warfare. During the fighting, enemy sorcery disrupted Imperial deployments, leaving units isolated and exposed.

Despite this:

  • The 122nd held their positions
  • They fought in streets, hab-blocks, and precinct fortresses
  • They refused to withdraw

The final stand came at an Adeptus Arbites Precinct House, where Fane and his company were surrounded.

They fought to the last.
They were overrun.

The regiment was nearly annihilated in the defence of Vogen.

Only later did Imperial forces reclaim the city, aided by the arrival of the Imperial Fists Space Marines, who purged the remaining traitors.

But by then, the 122nd had already fulfilled its duty.

The 13th Black Crusade (999.M41)

What remained of the 122nd would go on to fight in the 13th Black Crusade, the apocalyptic war that culminated in the fall of Cadia itself.

Like countless Cadian regiments, they stood against:

  • The forces of Abaddon the Despoiler
  • Chaos legions pouring through the Eye of Terror

Though records are scarce, one truth is certain:

  • They did not break.
The War of Beasts – Vigilus (Early M42)

In the era following Cadia’s destruction, elements of the 122nd continued the fight in the War of Beasts on Vigilus.

Fighting alongside the famed Cadian 8th, they defended the Triadine Plateaus against:

  • Ork invasions
  • Genestealer Cult uprisings

Even after near-destruction, the regiment endured—
a shadow of its former strength, but unyielding in purpose.

Legacy of the 122nd

The history of the 122nd Cadian is not one of victory in the traditional sense.

It is a history of:

  • Last stands
  • Urban slaughter
  • Relentless defence against impossible odds

They are remembered not for conquering worlds—
but for refusing to fall when they should have.

Final Record

The 122nd Cadian has been:

  • Nearly destroyed
  • Reforged
  • Deployed again into the fires of war

Its soldiers fight with a singular belief:

Cadia is not a place.
It is a duty.

CADIA STANDS

Manifesto

MANIFESTO OF THE 122nd CADIAN
“CADIA STANDS!”

We Are the Wall

We are the line that does not break.
We are the shield that does not falter.

Where others retreat, we stand.
Where others fall, we hold.

The enemy does not pass—not while a single one of us yet draws breath.

We Are Already Dead

Cadia fell—but we did not.

We carry its ashes in our lungs,
its ruins in our memory,
its fury in every shot we fire.

We do not fear death.
We owe it.

We Fight Without End

There is no peace.
There is no relief.
There is no surrender.

Only orders.
Only duty.
Only war.

We fight in the streets, in the rubble, in the dark—
and we fight until nothing remains but us… or them.

The Bayonet Is Truth

When ammunition runs dry, we advance.
When hope fades, we advance.
When the enemy believes us broken—

We fix bayonets.

Close combat is not desperation.
It is judgement.

We Are the Jackals

We hunt in the ruins.
We see in the dark.
We tear at the weak points and leave nothing behind.

The enemy fears the silence—
because it means we are already among them.

We Serve the Imperium

By the Golden Throne, we endure.
By the Aquila, we are bound.

We do not question.
We do not yield.
We do not fail.

Our Oath

We will hold.
We will bleed.
We will die.

But we will never break.
