Our Board. Our Rules

[UEX:896211]

History

By late 2955, the Pyro system had become a meat grinder. The UEE’s creeping jurisdiction into neighboring systems left independent pilots feeling suffocated, while Pyro itself was being strangled by the psychopathic xenophobia of XenoThreat and the extortionate grip of gangs like Rough & Ready.

Against this volatile backdrop, four pilots Shaden1337, CobyFrenchFrye, SirWeebert, and Slaww Bunny founded the Checkmate Contingent. They operated on a simple philosophy true independence requires organization, discipline, and a healthy dose of ruthlessness. Taking their name from their home station, they started recruiting exiles, defectors, and outcasts from other orgs who were just as tired of bending the knee as they were.

Setting up shop on Checkmate Station posed a massive risk since the facility was openly controlled by Rough & Ready. The founders managed to find the “Blind Spots,” a network of massive, unmapped maintenance sectors, abandoned environmental processing decks, and sealed hangars that the ruling gang didn’t even know existed. Bypassing the bulkheads, the Contingent quietly established a shadow-base right under their noses. From the outside, Checkmate Station looks like it’s run by Rough & Ready, but from the inside, the Contingent operates a sprawling, high-tech parasitic stronghold.

Today, the Checkmate Contingent operates as a highly coordinated strike force and shadow syndicate. They view the Empire as a corrupt, bloated regime with no right to dictate the lives of independent citizens, and they prove it by actively hijacking UEE supply convoys pushing toward the Pyro jump point. When it comes to the local gangs, they run brutal sabotage operations against XenoThreat and actively undercut Rough & Ready’s foothold on the station. They even frame rival gangs for these hits to spark turf wars, keeping the major factions bleeding and distracted.

Manifesto

Our Ideology

  • Absolute Autonomy: True independence isn’t given; it is taken, defended, and maintained through discipline, superior firepower, and tactical brilliance.
  • Refusal of Dominion: We reject the creeping, bureaucratic tyranny of the United Empire of Earth just as fiercely as we reject the extortionate, lawless tyranny of Pyro’s local syndicates.
  • Calculated Action: Where others play checkers with brute force and blind violence, we play chess. Every move is measured, every strike is decisive, and every victory advances our freedom.

Our Creed They thought leaving us with nothing would make us weak. Instead, it made us untouchable. While the UEE brings tyranny and the gangs bring chaos, the Contingent brings the end game. It’s our board, our rules.

Charter

Code of Conduct

  • 1. Unrestricted Engagement
Every pilot chooses their own vector. Piracy, mercenary work, trade, salvage, or combat, all forms of engagement are fully authorized. We don’t police how you operate or earn your credits, so long as your guns are never turned against the Contingent.
  • 2. Mutual Respect, Absolute Equality
Rank denotes responsibility, not entitlement. Every member from the newest recruit stepping onto Checkmate Station to the original founders demands and deserves equal respect. Ego trips, internal politics, and toxicity will be cut out immediately. We stand as a unified front, or we don’t stand at all.
  • 3. Operational Integrity
Protect the network. Keep Contingent intelligence, shadow-base operations, and squad coordinates secure. What happens in the Blind Spots stays in the Blind Spots.
  • 4. Hold the Line
We do not bend to the UEE, and we do not pay tribute to Pyro’s gangs. Carry the tag with pride, back your squadmates in the black, and make sure anyone who crosses us learns what Checkmate actually means.
