Creation

Shields first origins go as far back as the Howling Commandos and the Strategic Scientific Reserve.The team and organization worked together to better understanding and defeat the threat of a high profile research division of the nazis, known has Hydra. Hydra’s threat to humanity was great. Their alien weaponry was worrisome for the allies and even after their defeat, and the arrest of their heads, Hydra was a reminder to the people that there are far greater threats out their. In order to protect mankind from dangers far greater from anything that could have been foreseen during the time, the SSR was restructured and renamed the Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division, none as SHIELD.

Expansion of SHIELD
SHIELD, starting from operations based solely in the United States of America, SHIELD worked in the shadows. Over the years, the importance of SHIELD to protect humanity was seen, and it soon became the worlds shield protecting the people from the unknown.

Battle of New York

When the Chitauri invaded Earth, SHIELD’s affiliated group of super heroes, known as the avengers, were they fighting with Alien threat. SHIELD became public during this era, giving humanity hope, but also changing the world for the civilians.

Hydras Threat

Hydra, though long thought defeated, regrew in SHIELD, infiltrating all the levels of the organizations, SHIELD cut off one head, but another grew back. Using SHIELD’s technology, Hydra was almost successful in killing 20 million civilians to further their agenda in a new world era.Those royal to the SHIELD idea fought back however, foiling the plans, but the public image was destroyed, and those same countries who gave SHIELD the international approval, turned their backs on them, and went after those who remained.

Reconstruction and Redestruction

Shield fell into a hole, after its public image was ruined, and the world looking to find them and jail them, many of SHIELD’s personal surrendered, but a hand few still royal to SHIELD continued to fight, in the shadows like before. These agents no only built SHIELD back up from the ground, but were able to get the world approval to operate again. The organization started off small, but grew with new skilled assets joining. the SHIELD we know today, created in Phil Coulson’s Image, was not the only SHIELD which grew from the destruction. After some infighting, the SHIELDs merged into 1 entity, lead by Phil Coulson. After some complications and the destruction of SHIELD due to internal forces, SHIELD was again on the run.

Last reconstruction

After months of the SHIELD team lead by Phil Coulson disappearing, they came out of the shadows and into the light when they reinstated operations in a secret underground bunker called the light house. The small team was able to stop the world from being split apart into pieces. The team continued to run gaining more recruits and more public recognition. Phil Coulson, who died during this time, left his image and the role of Director of Shield to Al MacKenzie, who continued to rebuild Shield in Phil Coulson’s image, but making slight modifications. This is the Shield we know of today.

Then and Now

Shield continued to grow, with a off shoot of the organization called SWORD split off but later merged when the base work was set. Shield continued to operate and protect humanity from Alien threats, but also focusing on information gather and security to insure the survival of the human race for decades. Today we continue the idea of SHIELD as a galactic organization settled on protecting civilians, serving the idea of one man being a difference, and stopping those whom want to see the world burn. We are not an organization that has withstood the test of time, we are an idea that has spanned all of human history, and as long as there are people who believe in this idea, SHIELD will always in some form be there.
