History

The 5th Expeditionary Group was stood up in 2955 as a composite joint force under the United Empire of Earth, tasked with expeditionary operations requiring coordination across space, ground, and aviation domains.

What began as a concept — the idea that Star Citizen’s most compelling gameplay lies in coordinated military operations done properly — became a full organizational build. Doctrine was written. Standards were developed across every branch and specialization. Training pipelines were designed from entry-level recruit through warrant officer and leadership tracks. A chain of command was established with defined billets and clear authority.

The commissioning of the Warspite, an Idris-P class carrier with Type K upgrade kit, marked the unit’s transition from planning to operational capability — a flagship around which carrier aviation, fleet operations, and expeditionary assault could be built.

The 5th EXPG is now in its founding recruitment phase, seeking the personnel who will crew its ships, fill its billets, and bring the doctrine to life. The structure exists. The mission is clear. What’s needed now are the people.

Manifesto

We believe the best gameplay in Star Citizen comes from doing complex things well, together.

The 5th Expeditionary Group exists because military simulation — done right — creates experiences no casual group can match. The satisfaction of a clean carrier recovery after a contested operation. The confidence that comes from trained crews who know their roles. The weight of a rank that was actually earned through demonstrated competence, not just time served.

But structure without enjoyment is just work. We build systems that are deep enough to be meaningful and clear enough to be accessible. Our standards exist to enable coordination, not to create bureaucracy. Our chain of command exists so that operations run smoothly, not so that someone can pull rank. Training exists so that every member feels competent and confident, not overwhelmed.

We hold ourselves to a high standard — of conduct, of preparation, of how we treat each other. Toxicity, ego, and gatekeeping have no place here. What we value is reliability, willingness to learn, and genuine investment in the collective effort.

Charter

CHARTER OF ACTIVATION
5th Expeditionary Group, United Empire of Earth
Designation: 5th EXPG

I. ESTABLISHMENT AND AUTHORITY
By this charter, the 5th Expeditionary Group is activated as a standing joint expeditionary force under the authority of the United Empire of Earth. The 5th EXPG is authorized to conduct independent and combined operations across all domains — space, ground, and atmospheric — in service of UEE interests and the security of its citizens.

II. MISSION
The 5th Expeditionary Group shall maintain readiness to deploy as a self-sustaining joint force capable of sustained expeditionary operations. The unit shall develop and maintain doctrine, training, and operational standards sufficient to conduct multi-domain operations with minimal external support.

III. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The 5th EXPG is composed of the following branches, each maintaining distinct doctrine, rank structure, and training pipelines under unified joint command:
UEEN Navy — Capital ship operations, fleet combat, carrier aviation, and space superiority.
UEEM Marines — Expeditionary assault, boarding operations, shipboard security, and force projection.
UEEA Army — Ground combat operations, territorial control, base defense, and surface warfare.
Aviation — Fixed and rotary wing operations across all domains, operating under the Navy’s Air Wing.

IV. COMMAND
Command authority rests with the Commanding Officer of the 5th Expeditionary Group. The chain of command shall be maintained at all times. Orders flow downward; information flows upward. All members are bound by the chain of command and the standards of conduct established by 5th EXPG Command.

V. FLAGSHIP
The Idris-P class carrier Warspite (Type K configuration) is designated as the flagship of the 5th Expeditionary Group, serving as the primary platform for carrier operations, command and control, and force projection.

VI. STANDARDS AND DOCTRINE
The 5th EXPG shall maintain comprehensive operational standards governing all aspects of military conduct, operations, training, and administration. All personnel are subject to these standards from the date of their enlistment.
