History

There have always been those that humanity has pushed to the outskirts, those that didn’t quite conform enough, that chafed under the rule of others. Some did their best to find a quiet place in the world, others fought back instead. With the advent of personal space travel humanity would finally be free of our tiny blue planet. One would think the galaxy had enough room for everyone, but even as humanity scattered itself far and wide across the galaxy, old habits die hard.

With the expansion of the UEE as the de facto human authority, and the discovery of the alien empires, the galaxy has gotten a lot smaller. We do what we must to survive, sometimes within the UEE, sometimes on the edge. To make this life a little easier we’ve come together to formulate a set of statutes to live by, not as restrictive as the laws of the empires, but solid enough to build trust amongst ourselves. There’s enough room for all of us, for all those that honor the Accords.

Primarily a mobile and decentralized organization the Accords’ flagship the Jackdaw, a Drake Kraken, is the closest thing to a home they have. A home open to anyone that agrees to honor the Accords, even if it’s just temporarily to conduct some business. But the edge of space can be dangerous and it is rare to see the Jackdaw without it’s silent protector The Last Word, a re-purposed UEE Javelin Destroyer, nearby insuring the Accords are honored.

Manifesto

What are the Accords?

The Accords are a contract between it’s members and denizens of the Star Citizen Universe. As a primarily social contract, we aim to remain neutral in the grand scheme of Star Citizen’s politics. The Accords are meant to be a stamp of quality and clear set of rules for resolving conflict among participants. Anyone who meets a Signatory of the Accords should immediately know the caliber of the person they are dealing with.

Who should join the Accords?

The Accords are open to anyone and everyone who agrees to follow it’s charter whether they are bounty hunters, pirates, smugglers, haulers, mercenaries, explorers, racers, and so forth. Due to this unrestricted approach the Accords straddles the line between UEE and wild space. Some of our members may make a legit living, others may pursue … alternative career options. Each pilot is free to make their lively hood as they see fit. The Accords are open to players who wish to participate casually, regularly, or avidly; as a role-player or not; a place can be found for any play style.

What are the Accords’ membership requirements?

Aside from following the Accords themselves there are no additional requirements. We do not require our members to participate in organized activities or pay any sort of dues to maintain signatory status. This does not mean we are averse to organized activity or helping out other signatories. We prefer that our members self organize based on their personal preferences to engage in various in-game activities. If you desire to be a lone pilot who adheres to our articles and receives the benefits of them, that’s fine by us too.

The Accords are specifically designed to be either a primary or secondary organization. To insure that our signatories are always having fun in universe, we encourage our members to belong to multiple organizations if they so choose. We still expect members to follow our charter, but we do not wish to restrict our members beyond that adherence.

How are the Accords organized?

Our ranks are not a rigid hierarchy, instead they represent levels of expression. All members are considered full members upon becoming a signatory. Any signatory that wishes to be marked as a particular rank need only ask. The only exception to this is the rank of Arbiter which will require examples of good judgement and excellent standing amongst their peers. We will be putting your fellow signatories’ standing in your hands should they need a dispute resolved.

  • Signatories – All members, at all ranks, are considered signatories, this status is granted immediately upon acceptance. This is also the default rank for members that don’t wish to take on any additional social responsibilities.
  • Solitarians – For members who would predominately prefer keeping to themselves, this is so that other members know not to incessantly bother them.
  • Instructors – Members that wish to teach others about different aspects of Star Citizen. This can include any desired level of interaction, whether it’s answering questions, providing material outside the game, or demonstrating in game. Whatever the Instructor’s preference.
  • Coordinators – These members like to organize in-game activities, most likely in a particular area of interest.
  • Brokers – For members that prefer the business side of things, and are open to making deals either on their own behalf or via internal/external sources.
  • Arbiter – The only restricted rank, Arbiters are responsible for resolving any disputes or questions concerning the Accords. These include but are not limited to: accusations (internal or external), diplomatic relations, internal conflict not in direct violation of the Accords, or at any point when a signatory requires clarification on how the Accords should be interpreted.

How are the Accords amended?

After we’ve solidified the initial charter, any and all alterations to the Accords will be announced ahead of time and voted upon by it’s members to ensure that the Accords continue to reflect the values of it’s members.

Charter

Articles of the Accords

1. Every article of the Accords applies to all signatories (organization members) and any person(s) temporarily considered signatories.

2. Any person(s) actively engaged in a contract (verbal, written, or mechanically) with any signatory of the Accords is considered a temporary signatory until the contract is completed and all participants have been granted safe passage.

3. Signatories will honor any contract they participate in to the fullest extent and provide recompense if unable.

4. Signatories will not commit hostile acts (attacking, theft, extortion, etc…) upon other signatories.

5. Signatories will not engage in any behavior that could be considered harassment based upon gender, age, nationality, religion, capability, and so forth. This includes any definition of harassment by CIG or Star Citizen’s TOS.

6. Any signatory who violates these articles is no longer considered a signatory of the Accords. If this is their first offense the offender may receive a warning and be reinstated. A second offense will result in striking that signatory from the Accords and blacklisting them forever.
