Expedition Team I Captain’s Log 7:

We have arrived at the REDACTED system. Cryogenic Sleep Systems are set to revive the crew in 14 minutes and 57 seconds.

Expedition Team I Captain’s Log 9:

Atmospheric entry has begun, all ship systems are stable. Crew are in working order. Morale is high, and the dig team is excited to arrive at the chartered location. Planetary Data Scanners have detected several energy sources emitting a highly concentrated radioactive pulse from beneath the planetary surface. The research team is currently investigating the source from onboard systems, but we’ll have to investigate further after landing.

[Sol 1] Expedition Team I Captain’s Log 23:

Research Team 1 Depth – 234ft. Research Team 1 has reported immense subterranean structures, tunnels with a metallic lining leading to incredible depths. Terrain requires careful navigation and seems to be filled with a thick gas-like toxin. Atmospheric tests suggest the crew wouldn’t survive longer than 3 minutes without their helmets. Respiratory systems are holding but REDACTED has reported strange sightings. Further investigation required.

[Sol 1] Expedition Team I Captain’s Log 25:

Supply consumption was perfectly calculated, the crew should be able to complete the Primary and Secondary expedition objectives. Though some of the ship’s maintenance crew have reported an uneasy feeling, as if they’re “being watched”. All medical reports will be sent to the infirmary for mental evaluation.

[Sol 4] Expedition Team I Captain’s Log 37:

Several expeditions have been launched with attempts to charter the subterranean structure. Scans indicate changes to the tunnels original positions. Some of the crew are hesitant to re-enter the structure, but another expedition will be launched in the morning.

Research Team 2 Depth – 377ft We are attempting a rendezvous with Research Team 1, we need an immediate extract. Seismometer readings indicate a magnitude 9 subterranean earthquake.

[Sol 11] Expedition Team I Captain’s Log 51:

It has been several days since the tragic loss that has befallen our expedition. With no comms detected since the incident. Research Team 1 is currently MIA, presumed KIA. After analysing their position the extraction team has determined it’s not possible to recover their bodies. May God rest their souls. A full mission revaluation will take place with the crew at 18:00 followed by a farewell ceremony.

[Sol 12] Expedition Team I Captain’s Log 53:

The time is currently 3:42 am. The crew have reported disturbances outside of the ship. impacts on the hull followed by…voices? Security is currently preparing to search the perimeter. It could just be the mental impact of the loss of several crew members. But it’s better to let the crew feel safe.

[Sol 12] Expedition Team I Captain’s Log 57:

The time is currently 23:47 pm. Last nights security sweep found nothing. But this time, this time I hear it too? Banging on the hull, and voices. Voices that sound almost like singing? chanting? I’ll head to the infirmary in the morning for a medical evaluation.

[Sol 14] Expedition Team I Captain’s Log 58:

I haven’t been able to update this log in the past few days. Something is seriously wrong with the crew, Mike Harrington from the Engineering Crew sabotaged one of the engines. Manically rambling about us being heretics, trespassing on sacred grounds. The crew was in shock and a fight broke out amongst Mike and 3 other crew members. 4 minor injuries where sustained. Mike Harrington was placed under arrest and has been sent for a medical evaluation.

[Sol 15] Expedition Team I Captain’s Log 59:

A ship lockdown has been put into place. During early hours a riot broke out amongst several crew members and some of our personnel attempted to storm the security room in an attempt to seize the weapons. We had to shoot 2 of our crew members. Security Threat Level has been set to RED.

[Sol 19] Expedition Team I Captain’s Log 63:

The crew has gone insane, i can hear shots all over the ship. Security has been overrun and they’re just…murdering each other. I can hear them clawing at the door from my quarters. This is Captain REDACTED of the REDACTED. The expedition to REDACTED is a failure. If these logs are recovered. Leave this place.

[Sol 23] Expedition Team I Captain’s Log 64:

This is Roland Ezekiel, Chief Engineer of Research Team 2. The captain and the rest of the crew are dead. I am the sole-survivor of the REDACTED. The ship is in a critical state and a reactor meltdown is in progress. If anyone recovers these logs, i have went back into the tunnels in an attempt at survival. God help me and God help anyone who recovers these logs. I will find him. I will find the Architect.

[Sol 3] Expedition Team IV Dr. Kleiner Log 1:

The Prophet has given my team their first orders since planetary settlement began. The location of Expedition I and III has been uploaded onto our PDA, though the remains of Expedition II are unknown, trajectory analysis shared on the ARCH network predicts a catastrophic failure upon atmospheric entry. Luckily, our vessel houses the most technologically advanced exploration and research equipment that our organisation has ever been able to obtain. Lucky me…and my team, of course! The scientific discoveries I…and my team will make on this expedition will be ground-breaking! I can feel it.

[Sol 5] Expedition Team IV Dr. Kleiner Log 7:

The logs we have recovered from ‘Expedition I’ are fascinating! Though our predecessors seem to have been less…cautious. The data they have gathered will be invaluable to our cause. Though tragic, i find the fate of REDACTED incredible. We shall begin analysing any wreckage, data and samples that we can find.

[Sol 6] Expedition Team IV Dr. Kleiner Log 9:

All of our equipment is up and running. Seismometer readings show a consistent level of subterranean movement, the pattern is clearly visible. Almost as if it was timed. In addition previous data analysed from ‘Expedition I’ mentions a “toxin gas-like” presence within the terrain, though there is no visible or detectable gasses on the surface, further analysis shows that almost every object within the vessel of ‘Expedition I’ is coated with a substance, invisible to the human eye. An investigation is currently underway. Fascinating!

[Sol 9] Expedition Team IV Dr. Kleiner Log 15:

A breakthrough! Just as i thought. Samples of this “gas” in our neuropsychiatric analysis showed extreme hallucinogenic affects on our consenting test subjects. Glad we brought those guys along! Just small doses where reported to activate a primitive animalistic instinct in the brains of our patients, causing them to become extremely aggressive. With hallucinations of “ectoplasmic beings”. It almost makes me want to try it myself…but I’ll leave it to the subjects. Further debate with the research team and a few words with The Prophet and we have complete authority to begin more “extreme” testing phases. Of course, our subjects will be adequately compensated.

A controlled, monitored exposure of the gas in high quantities, now known as “VEX-A” has given Subject 11K unnatural abilities. The subject is consistently experiencing phases of extra-terrestrial communication from an unknown origin. Somehow, understanding whatever is attempting to contact our subject. Subject has taken to calling it “Architect” believing that it is the creator of…everything?. Of course these claims are outrageous but truly fascinating.

Subjects 11K and 1B appear to have formed a symbiotic relationship. Though kept in completely different habitats, there have been several instances where both subjects have spoken in the exact same abstract “language” which can only lead us to believe that it may be the speech this “Architect” is using to communicate with our subjects.

Both subjects where released from quarantine under a controlled environment and away from any other crew members of the expedition. After several attempts to facilitate them in our medical research laboratories as a form of “rehab”, have failed. “VEX-A” seems to have taken complete control of the subjects.

Both Subjects appear to have taken an almost identical path outside into the wilderness…of course we predicted this situation and chipped both subjects with a tracking component that will transfer data directly to the laboratories terminals.

Subject has been allowed to control the level of self exposure to “VEX-A” and though at first they where hesitant they have increased their intake by almost 43% in the last 2 days. Though the subject appears to be more stable than 11K they also seem to be under the influence of this…“Architect” being. Subject 1B has clear visions and communications with this creature and has provided us with a fantastic influx of clear data regarding the possible origin, intentions and how advanced this extra-terrestrial being is. Though it could be a complete hallucination, i have become completely absorbed by the research of these subjects.

TEST 7
We must immediately begin research into “The Architect”. Though The Prophet has called my research on these subjects ‘nonsense’ I heard him sending an emergency broadcast signal to the Arch Council. My orders are to focus on “VEX-A”. But i shall continue to observe and interact with Subjects 11K and 1B as long as i can.

Incredible! an immeasurably advanced being is projecting itself into the minds of our subjects. My colleague Professor Adam has been assisting my research by focusing on “VEX-A” to provide proof to The Prophet we’re not still involved in experimenting with these subjects. But after monitoring Subject 1B’s brain activity, the readings show that there is an incredible level of psionic energy detected emerging from an unknown source into the minds of our subjects. Professor Adam’s research suggests that “VEX-A” Has an extremely potent affect heightening the brains senses and allowing a ‘link’ to be formed between the host and the subject.

[Sol 24] Expedition Team IV Dr. Kleiner Log 33:

This expedition is beyond a success, this is far bigger than whatever ‘orders’ The Prophet has for me. I’ve been tracking Subject 11K and 1B over hundreds of feet beneath the planets surface. They seem to be navigating these tunnels as if they understood exactly when and where to move. As if something was leading the way. I’d attempt to join them, but “VEX-A” would most likely kill me, as it has the other test subjects. Subject 1B spoke of them surviving due to being “chosen” by this “Architect” figure.

[Sol 26] Expedition Team IV Dr. Kleiner Log 35:

1201ft beneath the surface, Subject 11K and 1B lost contact with our tracking systems. To my knowledge these extremely complex and unpredictable tunnels are some sort of defensive mechanism, as if it where a constantly operating highly advanced terraforming procedure used to mask the path to something a great depth beneath the surface of this planet. “VEX-A” is the only way to navigate these tunnels, but only if whatever built them allows you to survive. Could this entire creation be the work of “The Architect”?

The Prophet has announced that the expedition was a success. With enough supplies to return to the nearest system under human occupation, everyone has begun to finish their projects and prepare to board the ship with all the data we have gathered. But im so close! I cannot leave now whilst I’m on the brink of figuring out what unimaginable secrets lie concealed, buried deep within. The technology alone to create such byzantine constructions! It’s far beyond anything in our race, in our time!

[Sol 32] Expedition Team IV Dr. Kleiner Log 42:

This is my final log, I’ve taken several samples of “VEX-A” from the laboratory and have been exposing myself to its affects over the course of the last day. Oh the things i do for science! This is real discovery. This is a historical event, i will not let it escape my grasp whilst im this close. I’m uploading all of my data to a mobile terminal that I shall take with me and venture into the unknown. I’m reminded of the sole-survivor of Expedition I, his last log mentioned heading into this immense structure. But my story doesn’t end here, i can feel it. I can feel everything.
