August Defense Contractors was founded in the late 2940s on Orison by a splinter group of veteran Crusader Security (CruSec) tactical officers. While CruSec was excellent at protecting Crusader Industries’ direct corporate assets and the floating platforms of Orison, these officers recognized a massive gap in the market: independent haulers and civilian logistics networks in Stanton were being slaughtered by the Nine Tails syndicate and other outlaw factions.

Restricted by corporate bureaucracy and jurisdictional red tape, these veterans stepped down from their official CruSec posts to form an independent private military company. They wanted the freedom to take the fight directly to the pirates and offer guaranteed, heavy-duty protection to anyone who could afford their contracts.
